The best thing to do is make sure your shoes are picked up and your dog has plenty of his own toys and bones to chew on. He also should be watched....if he is a puppy, he shouldn't be let alone around the house. This could also be dangerous for him...he could chew on something that could harm him.
Why is he barking? Does he hear noises and just trying to protect, or is he barking while outside in the yard? If so, he shouldn't be left in the yard all by himself or he will bark if he becomes bored. Go outside with him and pay attention to him and get his mind off barking. If he is barking to protect, this is a natural instinct. I have heard that squirting a dog with water from a spray bottle when barking can discourage barking or put pennies in a can and throw the can to make noise to distract the dog can work to curve barking.
Otherwise, to me it just sounds like your dog needs some attention and training. You can change that with some time. Dogs are not born good house pets, they need to be trained. Try obedience or puppy classes. Good luck

Dogs DO bite and bark. Didn't anyone realize that at your house when you got the dog?
You didn't say whether your dog is a puppy? Puppies will chew on things the same as a human baby will when they are teething. If your dog is a puppy make sure the shoes are where the dog can't reach them until it is done teething. Make sure it has toys to chew on instead. Whenever the dog chews on something it isn't supposed to, sharply say "no!", and then give it a toy that it can chew. Praise it when it does chew the toy.
Different breeds of dogs will bark more often then others. Some dogs will just bark more than others too, the way that some people talk more than others. To totally tell your dog to shutup all the time would be as wrong as your parents telling you to shutup all the time. When your dog barks, tell them something like, "that's enough!", or "stop". Always use the same command so that they associate the act with the words.
It takes patience to train an animal and you have to stay with it not just when you feel like it. Remember, the dog is having to interpret what you want as you don't speak their language. A dog is incredibly eager to please you, but it's up to you to let the dog know what you want of it.

OK let's put this into perspective.
Adult dogs have the measurable IQ of an average 5 year old child. It takes dogs somewhere between 2 and 3 years to be fully mature both physically - and psychologically.
Little children have hands and such with which to play with things - and they need to be watched a lot as well. How many times have we heard mommies say "No, Bobby. Don't touch that." AND how many of us have had to "baby/child proof our houses" complete with locking cabinet drawers and baby gates?
OK so your dog - and I'm assuming that he's a young dog - less than 3 years old - is going through a "chewy" stage where he wants to explore and taste (they don't have hands, remember) everything. Things that smell of his Humans are especially prized. And what smells more than shoes? except maybe underwear - which he'll also chew on and carry around.
So your dog is merely behaving normally.
Dog-proof your house. Put shoes in closets and close the doors. Get a couple of baby gates so there are spaces that are off limits to him (the computer room, for example. Crate train him - a very good thing - he'll have his own little den.
Limit the toys he gets to play with to two or three at any one time. If he gets lots of toys, he'll think that Everything about that size (shoe - size) is HIS to play with.
Finally, enroll in a good obedience class. Obedience training is the best thing you can do for your dog outside of spay/neuter. It's a great sport, fun way to spend time with your dog - and a well-trained dog is a joy to be around - kind of like how a nice polite child is a joy to be around.
The opposite is just as true also - a poorly trained dog - like a poorly trained child - is a real pain in the neck.
Your trainer can help with the barking problem too.
Good luck. Beagles are great dog - please be patient - and get to Obedience class.

If he is eating shoes and destroying stuff it is because you aren't watching him enough. If he can't be trusted he needs to be in the same room as you at all times or in his crate. My beagle mix would chew the house to pieces if I let him.
When he bites is he mouthing (playful not meant to hurt) or aggressive biting? If he is trying to be playful like my beagle mix does I just ignore him and give him his nylabone- mommy doesn't want to play rough. I was told when pups play too rough with the littermates they are just ignored. Plus I figure givng him the bone says "this you can chew on- me you can't".
My dog has started barking when he wants attention. I just look at him and say "sh!" and raise my finger to my mouth. He seems to understand and he stays quiet for a little while at least.
Another tip from owning a beagle mix- if he is worn out he is an angel :) How old is he? Take him for a mile run. Take him for a tonne of walks. Try playing catch. Take him to a dog park and let him chase another dog around. After he's worn out he'll sit calmly and be very well-behaved.

Ok. First of all, try and see if you can clean up a bit. if the puppy can't get to it, he won't be able to destroy it. When my dog was a puppy, he barked a lot too. When he barks, don't let him have what he wants. Or he will get use to it, and start expecting to get what he want's by barking. When he barks, he may have to go outside to go to the bathroom. Let him outside everyday for about 10 minutes. Maybe he wants to chase a bird or a butterfly. Or play in tall grass. ^-^ He probably just wants to have fun. But make sure that if you don't have fences to keep a close eye on him, or play with him outside. ^-^ I hope this helped! I have two dog's of my own, and one just gave birth to 6 puppies! haha. ^_^

Dogs take a lot of your time. They need A LOT of exercise. Your dog is probably bored to death. Walk him 30 min. in the morning, and longer if you can at night. Go to puppy class; they will teach you very fun tricks like how to fetch and he will help you with house chores like picking up.
As for the chewing, if he is left alone during the day get him a cage. Dogs like to feel safe and he will make it his litte house to go nap to. If you catch him on the act he will learn very fast.
The puppy class will take care of the barking as well. A definite must.

Make a time out area with dog gates and make sure when he does something wrong put him in there. If he barks when in the time out area ignore him and he should soon learn.
If not call Its me or the dog! Only joking

he doesnt know the difference between and old pair of sneekers and your mums best shoes . in puppys eyes they are one and the same. my saint bernard and cocker spaniel both like all dogs love to chew. so i make sure they have rawhide or something doggie based that they can chew the day away with .
barking is a slightly different situation he mayu be asserting his authority as he finds his voice or trying to get your attention . the trick is teach him to bark on command and then you have control of when he shouts to some extent .
