They are clearing out their seasonal merchandise of last Christmas to make way for the new holiday things. It's just getting rid of pld inventory, it has nothing to do with downplaying the importance of Christmas. They also are getting the people who like to shop well in advance and to stimulate sales in the summer when people tend to spend less due to vacations, the heat, etc.
It is still called Christmas in July, because they named those sales long before the political correctness of changing everything to "holiday". Plus there is the fourth of July holiday in the summer and people might be confused. And in December people are shopping for 3 different holidays depending upon beliefs not just Christmas.

Christianity stopped following the teaching of Jesus immeidately after his demise.
As with most, if not al organized relgions, some one quickly figured out how to make a financial windfall through selling religions and ideas based upon the same.
When this got to the U.S. of A., it mixed with the new religion of this country, capitalistic greed at the expense of others, and the true meaning of Christmas, commericalism all the way extended the "season".
Then, to be politically correct, Christ was taken out of Christmas except during the non-traditional times of the year for the celebration of the same.
Christmas no longer has any meaning in this country and throughout most of the world except for the rampant consumerism and materialism of greedy capitalism gone wild.
Ho, ho, ho!

Mostly Christmas in July.
It's got nothing to do with religion - rather following a different prophet - the Profit Margin. It's only a Marketing ploy.
Can't even suggest it's a Pagan Conspiracy - cause (in the South Heme sphere) our "Mid-Winter" was in June.

Christmas is a lie. It is of no importance. It is good for business which is good for the economy.
