How do we know that the appendix is useless? Not many years ago, doctors in the US said that the tonsils were useless and often removed them. Now, the opinion is that the tonsils are helpful protect the body from disease.

Maybe the appendix is useful, but medical science is presently ignorant.

Even if the appendix no longer works, that does not disprove the Bible. According to the Bible, the bodies of human beings have changed twice. Once was after the fall of Adam and Eve. The second change was after the flood in Noah's day. The patriarchs used to live for much longer than us, but it says that GOD changed our life span to a maximum of around 120 years. Perhaps a change in our appendix was part of that.

The theory that the appendix once helped us digest raw meat is only speculation. It may or may not be true. It doesn't disprove the Bible.

The word appendix is also known to have been a body part which was used along time ago when we ate things like grass and unclean food. It would help clear out the dirt going through your body. Nowadays we do not need to use the appendix. God put it there because it WAS needed at one time.

I am a Christian who believes in evolution.
There are those who do not.

The appendix is there for a reason and a wisdom. The human does not even know how many hairs there are on his head. And if you study physiology you will find so many things which scientists still do not know the function of or the reason it is in a certain way and not another way. That does not mean that it doesn't have a function; it just goes to show how much we still don't know.

Plus I've never heard the appendix was for raw meat - I thought it was for cellulose...

If your finger is cut exidentally or your ear, you will most probably do not die, but it does not mean that your finger or ear has no function. So appendix is necessary for a reason that medicine could not discover yet, like many other parts in our brain. All the best :)

Some doctors say that it is needed in the body. But the body is designed to go without some things, and still live. I see this as a plus on the creation side.

Not one thoughtful Christian, including those who believe in a 6-day creation, would object to the idea of evolution within species. Honestly, I grow weary of non-christians who form their opinions of the faith by picking out the beliefs of the fringe kooks within our company and coming to the conclusion that we're all kooky. Don't you have a kooky uncle or great aunt in your family? Would you want me to judge you on the basis of that goofy relative? Wouldn't that be unfair; a gross example of prejudice and stereotyping?

What if God did create us through the process of evolution?

You know what else is useless? Toenails. I've never heard a creationist explain what use they are supposed to have.

Of course, if we are descended from an animal that had claws on its feet, that would explain it.

well there are tiny bits of things that scientists still dont know about our human bodies.. They havent unlocked the brain totally.. What if that appendix is needed for something, and we just dont know it yet, its so sutle a use that its not noticed..

God created us. Fruit is in the centre of Eden(our body) & it was eaten. That is why we have to evolve & go back to Him.
