Recently got a ticket for expired inspection (less than one month)... What is the proper protocol (actions) to get it taken care of? Obviously I will get it inspected right away. What do I do then? Mail the new inspection receipt to the court with a NOT GUILTY plea? Thanks.

Since it was less than a month over, you can attempt to appeal to the judge and see if he will grant you an exception, not likely but you can try. However the bottom line is you were expired. Regardless of reason, excuse, intention, etc. it is your responsibility to watch your inspection and get it renewed before it expires. More than likely the citation will stand, nothing you can really do about it. I don't know how NY is but if you choose to take it to court and lose, and then have to pay court fees on top of it, I would just take the cite, get the inspection updated, and make sure you don't make the same mistake in the future.
