There are many possible causes for this and a carefully history and physical exam are the minimal things neccessary to diagnose the problem. Additionally, diagnostic test may be in order. See a health care provider, use a physician MD or DO or a Nurse Practitioner or PA. Though naturopaths and chiropractors are very capable for their select patients the possiblities of your condition should be addressed by someone trained in family medicine or internal medicine and possible eventually a specialist if required. Start with your primary care provider. They will make sure that anything significant is addressed and can give you options in treating the problem.

Incidently, this should not be addressed in the Pain Management arena unless you are seeing a pain management specialist. If you are then make sure this is not a side effect of your treatment.

Please don't delay, seek medical attention

It could also mean arthritis but the only way to know for sure is to have this evaluated by your doctor to see what they think is going on.

If it is water retention one cause for it can be from eating too much salt. Reducing the amount of salt eaten can help ease some of the swelling. Also, keep an eye on things you drink too because some like a lot of sodas also have salt in them.

No one can diagnose you over the internet. There are a lot of reasons why swelling occurs. It could be something mild causing it or something more serious like poor circulation and heart problems. Go see a doctor, no one can examine you, run tests and diagnose you over the internet!
