when I travelled thruoout Europe I realised why NZ many people think its so great....I did not see any natural beauty that equaled New Zealand!!!

There are lots of places to see...in the South Island the 3 you have chosen are all great. I lived and worked at the information centre in Franz Josef....its soooooo pretty all up and down the coast with stunning forests as well.
You don;t say but hiring a car for the West Coast may be a good idea as its very isolated and there are lots of places that need a car to get to....or spend a lot of time walking.

Queenstown is very touristy but is very beautiful and is why people flock there.

Christchurch is probalby my favourite city and I have lived there on and off for years now......I have not done that many of the touristy things, but there are still lots of things to do.

In between these places, there is Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook....VERY different scenery to the West Coast ( dry, valleys, basins etc)......its equally lovely and you get great views of Mount Cook and the glacial lakes which are stunning turquoise blues......

You can go whale watching in Kaikoura which is supposed to be great, or do some of the train journeys ( the tranz alpine is often considered one of the top 5 or 10 train jouneys in the world and I have done the coastal pacific on numerous occasions and love it.....you can take this train to Kaikoura from Christchurch).

It also depends on what you want to see or do.
Rotorua is very cultural as well as lots of bubbling hot pools etc ( North Island) and Auckland is well liked by tourists for the things on offer there.
THere are lots of wineries in Marlborough and you can see the Marlborough Sounds......
Milford and Doubtful sounds are STUNNING (Fiordland) and you can cruise around them......

so check out some of the websites and definately have a go in New Zealand.

Ignore 'Driver T' - the NZ pages have been down since yahoo separated the countries into their own category.

I lived there myself for many years - You'll love the south island!
I'll put my 2 cents worth in.

From top of the south island start in Nelson, the sunniest place in NZ! - with the great beaches, vineyards, outdoor adventure and art centres. http://www.nelsonnz.com
On one side of Nelson you have the Abel Tasman National park http://www.abeltasman.co.nz - http://www.aquataxi.co.nz
Golden sand beaches and stunning scenery.
and on the other side Marlborough / Picton – The Sounds - http://www.destinationmarlborough.com
You can also take the Ferry across from Picton to Wellington to go across to the North Island.
Oh - getting back to Abel Tasman you can walk down the track in the National park and stay at Awaroa Lodge, http://www.awaroalodge.co.nz or Kayak around the coastline and swim with the seals, http://www.sealswim.com OR walk one way and take the Aqua taxis back. There is alot around; all you need to do is go to the beach and wave down an aqua taxi.

Whale watching is in Kaikoura. http://www.kaikoura.co.nz
http://www.whalewatch.co.nz

Christchurch Best attractions are http://www.chchattractions.co.nz
The Gondola is great - http://www.gondola.co.nz and also the International Antarctic Centre - http://www.iceberg.co.nz

Queenstown - adventure capital of NZ. Costly little place with all the attractions on offer. You can't pass up a bungy jump though. http://www.ajhackett.co.nz
and the Milford Sounds, http://www.fiordland.org.nz
Lord of the rings tours also in Queenstown if you are interested in that side of things. oh and the world famous Shotover Jet doing full 360º spins! http://shotoverjet.co.nz - don't miss it.
If you are going soon or in the winter time and into skiing – go to http://www.snow.co.nz/areas/area_index.asp to check out all the ski fields in NZ.

Enjoy your trip.
Cheers

Hi Bijon.
Your question is simplistic and naiive.
Yes, you are missing lots - heaps, and most of all you are missing out on good answers 'cause this question is on a page for Australian questions.
Re file it on to a New Zealand page, and wait for the answeres to come rolling in.

If I wanted to know about Sri Lanka, I wouldn't ask on the Vietnam page now, would I?

R u missing something? You bet. One of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes to be found anywhere on the planet to start with. Go, but not now as it is bloody cold there at this time of year.
