I just recently started answering Y! questions and I was wondering if the mispelled words and wrong use of grammer is the way it is supposed to be done, or am I just too anal?

It's very common. You have to remember the average reading age in the US is only at the 12 year old level.

That and the SMS (texting) culture that has grown up recently, means that many don't bother to either spell or use grammar.

Grammar isn't taught anymore in most UK and US schools, as they found that it held girls back in schools. They got bored out of their skulls as they seemed to already know it. Girls tend to instinctively know grammar. Boys are doing worse in schools as they seem to need to learn Grammar, to use it correctly. As it isn't taught, it isn't used.

Good that, isn't it?

Yeah it makes it tough to read. But think about it -- most of the people who ask the questions are just looking for someone to talk with or don't have any idea how to find these answers on their own, or want things handed to them on silver platters, or are immature, or they are really young. So, consider the source.

i cant really be bothered to write in full English so i cut words down and it looks like they are mispelled. But you carry on doing it properly at least i know one person on yahoo answers can use proper grammar etc.

Typos, bad spelling, poor grammAr... all that is incredibly common here. As common as the moronic questions. It is sad. To find the good stuff, you have to dig a lot. But it exists.
