Yes, it's a very valuable commodity on the black market there...with the high pork content and all...there's a radical element of the insurgent population that has a real craving for it behind closed doors...kinda like porn, drives the Camels wild!

If our troops are killing Al-Qaeda terrorists, capturing computers, data and other intelligence information, capturing weapons, and taking the fight to them, how it is "pointless"? And since when do Americans give a rats *** what the rest of the world thinks of us? We got attacked on 9/11, I didn't see the rest of the world coming to our defense. Unlike us, when they are attacked. So why would we even care what they think? We haven't given a damned thing back to the Taliban. There are troops there. The Canadians have been there for years, and they've held the fort just fine. We have troops there also. The Taliban has been reduced to nothing. You're going to have insurgency, but don't confuse that with having "control". We've not been attacked since 2001. How do you figure we're less safe? We've not had an airliner hijacked since then either. Saddam Hussein is dead. Two of the higher Al-Qaeda leaders have been killed. How are we worse off? Al-Qaeda is splintered. They are nowhere as cohesive as they once were. How are we not affecting them? You want an instant war, like you want instant coffee! Wars take years. And they cost casualties. Just because you're not getting instant gratification doesn't give you the right to throw in the towel and bring the boys home. You're against the soldiers mission, so in turn, you are against the very thing those boys are laying their lives on the line for. And that is demoralizing. And that is NOT supporting our troops. You might be a military brat, but you're damn sure no soldier.

Yes! I do know from personal experience that a great number of APO packages being sent from Hawaii contain Spam. When deciding what to send, or not send, refer to the postal services guidelines (www.usps.com and follow the links). Keep in mind that some of the rules regarding troop care packages have changed but are listed, as well as how to order care package supplies free from the USPS. Your Ombudsman can give you your command's opinion and SOP also.
Send him/her a big "Thank you" from me too.

There is no restriction on sending food to troops in Iraq, unless there has been a recent change (which I doubt it). I think the USPS still has those $8 shipping boxes. It costs $8, and you pack all you can into it. Fill out the customs form, the address label, seal it up, and they handle the delivery.

you must be one of those fat Soldiers. I knew a couple of them when I was stationed overseas. They loved Spam and were overweight and had to do PT twice a day. LOL. Weird, because they were both from Hawaii too. The commissary sells spam. Go check it out fat boy

I understand the American Soldiers regually barter for Spam from the British troops. So I think it should be shipped out there, as they obviously want it.

I'd check with someone whose been to Iraq. If the military menu is anything like what it used to be in the field, one thing you DON'T want to send is Spam! :)

Yeah sure, no problem. I send my wife cans of food. Yes there is plenty of it, but she works a wierd shift and doesn't like going to to the chow hall at midnight. She uses her office microwave to heat up chef boyardee, dinty moore, and easy mac. She HATES spam, but if she liked it, I'm sure that I would send that to her too.

When I was in Afghanistan, as a joke on Easter my parents sent me a canned ham, pinaple, and cherries "to make easter dinner". Canned ham is basicly Spam.

We have little AAFES stores on some bases in Iraq. Spam, is included.

Why would you even want to send something as nasty as that anyway?

As long as it complies with the "law of the land" wherever they are fighting. Spam ain't pornographic(depending on who's getting it) so I would venture to guess that you could send some in your next care package.

it already is. the pelosi/reid regime has ensured that the defense of this country is loaded with unneeded and unnecessary pork by product which is alluded to on the lable of the can. the sad part about it is they have sold the liberal extremist public on somehow this being loyalty when clearly it is not...OH OH SORRY not that kind of spam...nevermind.
