Hi there got an oil painting which is on a canvas. However its is not stretched on a fame. Can i stretch it onto frame so i can mount it on wall?or will paint crack? tanks or any help

if the color on the oil painting is not thick, it's fine for u to roll or stretch it. sometimes the oil color crack even u put it nicely is becoz of the painter do not use enuf oil for the oil color, or the color need more oil than usual. it happened to my friend's painting, it's the problem of the color. put too much oil will b so sticky, n easily stick to the dust, it's like it will never dry...
when u stretch on frame, dun pull too hard, canvas is also fabric.

Tricky but yes. It actually is the best way to preserve the painting.

Just remember that stretching is just a phrase. You don't actually pull it beyond it's original size. The paint will not crack if you don't over do it.

Yes you can. Just be very gentle with it and you will be fine.
