No. These cancers are unrelated to one another. It would be far more serious if both father and daughter had the same cancer, but since the cancers are not the same . . it is probably co-incidental.
Here is a check list for cancers that may be hereditary and when you might want to go for testing:
1. Two or more of your relatives have had the same type of cancer.
2. You and your relative have had the same type of cancer.
3. You or a relative was diagnosed with cancer before the age of 50.
4. You or a relative has had more than one type of cancer.
5. You or a relative has had a rare or unusual type of cancer.
Types of hereditary cancer that two members in a family might have to indicate genetic connection:
Breast
Colon/Rectal Cancer
Leukemia
Lymphoma
Malignant Melanoma
Multiple Myeloma
Ovarian
Pancreas
Prostate
Thyroid
Uterine/Endometrial
If you are still worried though, you can have genetic testing done to see if there is a family gene causing this.

I am so sorry about your family--two dramatic, serious and fatal cancers.....you have a "predisposition" to cancer because it runs in your family---I'm assuming your female--get a gyno exam and make them do more than a pap test---liver can be if your dad drank or had to take a lot of meds --even TYLENOL will destroy your liver if your took 2 tablets for 5 years---so there are a lot of variables---see a good doctor and get checked out--don't let your dad be operated on---as soon as they open him up it spreads--it's like an airborne disease--your daughter--get her to the best biggest cancer hospital within 2 hours of your home and get more than one opinion and option for therapy.........good luck to you and your family........I hope things work out-----------and ps DONT SMOKE!!!

Our family has a genetic predisposition for cancer.
We inherited it from our mother, who inherited it from her father.
Out of 6 brothers & sisters, 4 of us have had cancer.
Only 1 sister had the genetically linked cancer, the other 3 were NOT genetically linked (just bad luck).
Genetics is not a major risk factor for most cancers.

Im terribly sorry to hear about your dilema. Most forms of cancer are "sporadic", and have no basis in heredity. There are, however, a number of recognised syndromes of cancer with a hereditary component.
