Is it because there can be no other God? After all, it is only a name, it's not a true "God." Is it right or wrong?

I think a few people have. Didn't Grace Slick name her kid "god?" But of course, the kid would probably hate it, and change it as soon as they could, because he'd get teased unmercifully by the other kids.

The fact that more people hasn't done so is amazing with all the self appointed Gods running around.

Makes me wonder if perhaps atheist aren't secure enough they are right to try that.
No spiritual person would consider it as it would be the true height of arrogance.
God Bless you Nimrod!

Some of Allah's (God's) attributes are His alone, and so the names He has representing them are His alone as well. Though some of the names can be used by humans. Allah (God) knows best!

It is wrong, I think you would be asking for trouble.
I really do not think it is a good idea to name a child Jesus either.

"God" is not a name, it is a title. If you have a Bible look up Psalm 83:18 and it will tell you God's name....unless it has been removed, if so find an older Bible and check. as to why no one has named their child "God" maybe they are too scared. IDK

A discerning person does not allow words to flow out of his mouth hastily. He thinks before speaking and enjoys peaceful relations with others because a “mouth of discretion” leads him to choose his words carefully. When faced with foolish or speculative questioning, a man of discernment is able to ‘hold back his sayings.’ (Proverbs 17:27)

IIRC, Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane did just that . . . only she used a small "g" (as in "god").

god is not a name. God is a title, Jehova was Gods name, its in the bible. And who would want a kid named God. Think about it.
