Ancestry.com notes that Uriegas is of Hispanic origin, but it doesn't note the meaning of the name. According to Ancestry.com, by 1880, 21 Uriegas families were living in Texas. In 1920, approximately 3 to 4 Uriegas families were living in Texas while one was living in New Jersey.

The 1930 census shows numerous Uriegas families in Pennsylvania and Texas as well as one Uriegas family in Michigan. The Uriegas families living in Texas lived in the Ulvade or San Antonio areas.
