i think its okay. asking you out doest not always mean that she wants a relationship. sometimes she's just being friendly and just wants to hang out with a guy. and, i think its cool for a girl to have the courage to do that. its not at all cheap.

Men and women aren't really such different beings. Too, all of the stigma about "men should do this, women should do that" comes from outdated systems of gender roles. These days, men and women are free to be themselves regardless of which sex they are, and they should act accordingly. Those who cling to the old gender roles--in this case, those women who feel that men should always be the ones to take the initiative in starting a relationship--are those who still benefit from them, despite the fact that they aren't really following them anymore (else they'd be working in the kitchen and doing everything their husband told them).
A prime example of this can be found on this very page, on which somebody says (on the idea of women asking men out):
"i don't like that idea . im a girl and i know that i am very very shy, i asked a gguy out once. my friend did it for me. i think that guys should ask girls out."
Right. Why does this particular girl feel that women shouldn't ask men out? Because then the onus might be on her someday to do so as well, and then she'd need to take a risk. She'd rather have it easy--she'd rather have men come to her instead, rather than have herself put herself on the line in any way.
In conclusion, yes, I certainly think men and women should just be themselves regardless of their sex, and act by who they are and what they want rather than by some outdated gender template; as such, if one is interested a member of the opposite sex or the same sex, one should certainly go and pursue that person.
