how do you feel about the hijab (or haircovering)?

It is generally a very misunderstood concept and i'm wondering everyone's opinion on it. I'll be posting the reasons Muslimahs have for wearing it and the scripture behind it if you'd like to check back later.

Peace and Blessings,
Sakina

What we don't understand more than the hijab is why the women are treated less than a man? When are men above women in Islam? Don't you feel, as a woman, that you are if not equal, above some men you meet on the street? Shall you hide your intelligence and obey men? The hijab is misunderstood because you are hiding yourselfs from the world, as we see it as Christians.

I am a Muslimah who wears a hijab, and I am very proud. Some people may think it is degrading to wear a headcovering or that it makes us lower than men. I don't see how covering my hair can lower my social status, as i am personally the same person personality wise. I am proud of all other girls that wear scarfs. Covering our hair and our bodies (except face, hands, feet) is supposed to teach us modesty and patience, and create a feeling of love towards our Lord, and to show others that you are still the same, wether you show your hair to men or not. (P.S. You wear a headcovering in front of people you can marry only)

I think that it promotes the idea that the only thing men want is to gawk at women all day in a sexual nature. I find it offensive and downplays men as sexual deviants unable to control themselves.

Besides that, I have been robbed before, and while it was a male that robbed me on both incidents, it makes me feel nervous around people who conceal their face.

I feel that enforcing it is wrong. That should be a personal choice. We as Christians or set free from the law through his sacrifice. Too bad you don't have that maybe what should be a fashion statement would not be an excuse for rape and murder.
God Bless!

I feel like if its a part of their religious belief, they have a right to wear it. I also feel they shouldn't get any special treatment while wearing it, especially if wearing it compromises the population's safety. Example: They should be removed for photo IDs

Lots of faiths make you wear a hat or cover your head. Your respective gods made your little noggins. You're supposed to cover up the creation of a god? That sounds fishy to me.

The most important is not what it look like from outside, but the inside.
Do you think by covering hair we will do the kind things?

I firmly believe that everyone should be able to practice their faith without persecution.
If they want to wear a head covering then they should be able to without being badgered about it.
It wasn't that long ago that catholic women didn't go to church without their head covered.

We all have different beliefs. We don't have to practice the same faith to respect each other.
Maybe learning about someone elses faith will make you stronger in your own.

To cover ones head is to put a woman under the man. No biggie.
