i would make a nice thick potato soup with lots of bacon
crusty bread on the side, toasted

maybe a chowder, or chili, or stew.

i love soups when it's dreary out. it's a comfort food kind of day

You should cook some hot comfort food. What you should cook depends on what you are in the mood for, what foods you like, and what food you have on hand. Spaghetti & meatballs with garlic bread is a good comfort food. Hot soup and a grilled cheese sandwich (or salad) would warm you up.

You can't beat a hearty (and simple) meat & potatoes recipie!

Cube and pan sear some beef loin. Place in a casserole dish w/ baby red potatoes, chopped celery, chopped onion, baby carrots, portabello mushroom buttons. Add 1 or 2 cans of beef broth and season w/ salt and pepper. Bake at 400 until the potatoes and carrots are done.
