Last vacation my wife and me stayed at a Country Inn and Suites.
Accomodation was great blah blah blah...
Around 9 pm we decided to practice reproduction.
Thing is that the headboard was not properly attached to the wall, and an annoying banging was produced towards the next room.
Nobody complained.
At about 10 pm, the need for preserving the specie came again to us, so we started our job again... more banging, moaning, etc...
Again, luckily, nobody complained.
Okay, it's 11:30 pm and we don't feel like sleeping yet, so, while watching Conan, we get mushy mushy again and the banging starts one more time...
This time our "probably tired" neighbors start to punch the wall like maniacs towards us like the hotel was on fire...
Fortunately we managed to come anyways.
Questions:

Was our fault for being on heat?
Was Country Inn's fault for not attaching properly the headboard?
Was Country Inn's fault for constructing such poor walls?
Was the neighbor's fault for being awake?

I think it's you guys who were in heat that is in fault. You knew it was banging the wall, and of course when you stay at hotel chances are someone is staying in the room next to you. The people in the next room obviously gave you guys a couple chances before coming to your door (I mean that's an awkward situation to ask the people next door to stop banging the headboard). By the time they came around I'm not surprised that they were upset, they had an ought with you, at least they didn't take it to management. Hands down you guys are at fault and be more considerate towards others.

And p.s. most headboards aren't stable anyways and you guys probably new that!

I'd say your fault for not sticking a rolled up towel behind the headboard.
Ever heard the joke about the couple at the motel who heard this banging noise coming from the next room, and decided that when it stopped then they would go at it to see how the other couple liked it? Then when they were done the first banging started all over again, so they had to repeat their performance all over again. This went on, back and forth all night long! They got no sleep, but were very happy. In the morning they peeked next door to see what the other couple was doing, and it was the ice machine with a loose motor.

Well, I've never hd that exact problem, but I once had a faulty tap in a motel that every time I turned it on, it made a big racket that disturbed the people next door.

Unfortunately for them, I'd paid for my room, inlcuding use of the tap, and I wasn't going to not use it.

I mean, I'm as reasonable as the next person, but when you rent a room you expect the facilities to be up to scratch, y'know.

So yeah, I think the motel could have put your neighbours in a different room, or at least fixed the bed.

I mean what if you'd rented the room just for the purpose of getting mushy? Are you supposed to not do it because the motel has a faulty bed? You pay for the room, it's yours to use.

Motel's fault, imo.

Cheers :-)

This does not sound like a question of fault merely of direction, why not turn sideways on the bed, move to the floor, go to the shower, there are lots of options that would have made the banging headboard (no pun intended) a non-issue

I would suggest the Country Inn's fault for the headboard... however, any normal neighbour would have got the hint and decide to do a little bumping of their own...

Next time stuff a pillow between the mattress and the headboard - works every time!

If the headboard wasn't properly attached, you should have asked for another room. Problem solved.

Everybody understands that's the nature of hotels. But if you were with your parents and people next door were doing that, it might be awkward, right? Plus, isn't it possible to move the bed away from the wall?

OMG! Don't you know the pillow trick? Put a pillow behind the headboard, no noise, no damage, no loss of concentration! Oh, its your fault!
