I have Acuvue Oasys Contacts. I don't sleep in them but I stay up very late but then again I also wake up very late. However they get dry and blurry as it gets later on the night. I tried taking them out and putting them back in and I've also tried Visine drops. They don't really work. Is it just my eyes or is it the contacts? Any thing I can do?

hi
we generally advice maximum 8 to 10 hours of contact lens usage daily, sometimes some peolple wear for more than 12 hours and they are comfortable and some people cant even wear them for more than 6 hours continously. so it depends.
dont force ur eyes to adjust more than the comfort level.
u can go up to 8 hours and if ur eyes feel tired, dry or uncomfortable remove the lenses and switch to spects.
u can consult an optometrist if the problem persists or u can switch to a new brand. anything might help....
any more querries u can contact me on kothari_jay55@yahoo.com
i m a qualified optometrist runnin my own optical shop.

Some eye doctors recommend how long you can stay with your contacts in. For me it's 10 hours and for my sister, it's 12 hours, so it depends on how good your eyes are. And if you're staying up late you might be staying over your limit, and if not, then the type of contacts you're using aren't the ones for you. I had this problem also, so I used a new prescription. It's called "Opti-Free Replenish" It retains moisture for enhanced comfort, so your eyes won't be dry or blurry and it cleans, reconditions, rinses, disinfects, and stores. It is also recommended #1 by eye doctors. For more information go to www.OPTI-FREE.com or call 1- (800)- 757 -9195. And before you go to bed (you probably already know this) you should put your contacts inside a container full of solution so they will stay comfortable, this prescription really works, I've stayed up until 5 A.M. latest with these. If this problem continues talk to your doctor. OPTI-FREE Replenish really does work, try it out! Hope I helped! :-D

Soft contact lens usually have a suggested 8-hour maximum. After 8 hours they should be taken out and washed with lens solution. This gets rid of calcium deposits on the lens surface; which could be bothering your eyes. Also, the surface of the eye requires a layer of oxygen. Naturally, wearing contact lens for long periods of time affects this process. Do you have allergies or a chronic dry eye problem? Try buying 'Blink'. I find this eye drop brand very affective! It comes in a green bottle.

Best of luck

This goes against what the others are saying. I wear mine all the time. I think you should change brands. Either yours do not fit properly or you are wearing the wrong kind. Change doctors next time. Take them out and let them soak after 8-12 hours. Meanwhile put in a different pair. I shower, swim and sleep in mine and seldom know they are in my eyes, except that I can SEE. I rinse mine out some times by squirting the Equate All Purpose Solution (Walmart) directly into my eyes. I've worn them for years and years. Good luck.
