When I sing a song, it seems like the words of the song fly away when I am on stage or in front of people.

You have to rehearse it over and over until it is part of you!

I used to have the same problem, the key is to be confident in what your doing, read the words over and over again, then sing them over and over again, the way I tend to do it if I'm struggling, is to stick them up on the wall and sing standing in front of them as if performing, take your eyes away from them as often as you can, and soon enough you won't need to look at them at all, then when your standing on stage, just focus on the image of your bedroom wall with the piece of paper infront of you, you nerves of an audience will disappear and the mental image will trigger the memory of the words.

I do the same when I'm learning lines for plays, but that's usually infront of a mirror as opposed to a wall lol! Good Luck x

First and for most practice makes perfect .. the more you practice the more the words are embeded in your brain .. second .. the more experience you have the less likely you are to forget about the lyrics when you perform in front of people. Remember .. nerves will always be there before a performance, but you can learn how to control your nerves as you become more expereinced.

A great method for memorizing is to start at the end of the song and work backwards. Memorize the last phrase, then add the phrase before it and so on, till you have the whole song.
I've always had trouble remembering words myself and this method is amazing.
Good luck!

Sing it over and over, first with the words in front of you, then without them. What I do is just sing a new song over and over all day, while im driving, or whatever, and it will become a part of me.
