No insurance, needing a possible root canal...does anyone know how much it costs?

The root canal is around $850-900. The problem is that this price desn't include the crown that has to go over this root canal which is an additional 700+ bucks.
My suggestion? Go to a dental school and see if any of the graduating seniors who need to do a root canal and crown in front of their professors to open a practice, need a patient. They charge very little or nothing and they are being supervised by the best dentists (who also teach).
Good luck.

root canal, yes it will hurt and your insurance will probably only partially cover it depending on what type you have. Good insurance will probably cover it 80%, average 50% and the rest 20-25%. Very few carriers will cover it 100%. The hurt will stop once the meds get to the root of the tooth, but that generally involves a syringe being stuck through the tooth into the jaw bone. That hurts like nothing else.

Here in NYC it can be about $1300-1500 with the crown. I go to a dental school for my root canals because it's cheaper than a private practice and I'm paying about $900 with the crown.

Ouch....a lot!! Without a crown, probably around $500-$600...with a crown (gold is recommended) closer to $1,000.
