How did an all-powerful God come into existance? Especially one that is so complicated it is impossible to even begin to grasp such a thing. And why would a God, care about us and listen to prayers? How could anyone possibly believe that a God would want us too NOT question him?

As Einstein said "I can not accept any concept of God based on the fear of life or the fear of death or blind faith. I can not prove to you that there is no personal God, but if I were to speak of him I would be a liar."

"In the beginning was the Word, (Jesus) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." John 1:18 (So God has always been around; that's why he's God.)

As far as not questioning God I think he does want us to make sure that what we "hear" is his truth and he wants us to check it out.... "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now is already in the world." 1John 4:1-3

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:9-11

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17

I can't begin to even tell you how much God loves you without typing all night ;-) which I don't mind... "Matthew 10:30 "And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered." I know a lot of people who love you, but really now...who's going to take their precious time out to number all your hairs? God has such love for you that he does.
Check this out...."For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:17
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3:16-18.
Now, no matter what anyone ever tells you (even me!) check it out with the Bible first! If it doesn't line up with the word of God than shake it off as not from God.
You asked, "why would God care about us and listen to our prayers." When you love someone don't you just enjoy spending time with them? And when you love someone don't you just love to shower them with your love and affection? How much more does God want to do that with you!?
"If you, then, through you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" Matthew 7:11
"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to hive good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Luke 11:9-11
You can say a prayer right now and accept Jesus to come into your life and be Lord of your life. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
I have prayed the God would use me as "tool" and that His words I have quoted would plant seeds in your heart and that it may bring Glory and Honor to Him. Hugs from me to you!

Anything about god is above scientific /mathematical analysis . He is a faith and can only be grasped by upliftment of mental faculty by religious practices/ meditation .
This is prevalent concept till today .
Just like infinite cosmos about which man yet to know things , It is better to leave God that way presently without hurting people who have mixed feelings .

The Omnimax was created in our image because the ancient ignorants needed answers to questions that children know the answers to now.
BUT in the process the scammers and other parasites realised ... there's good money to be made from religion IF you can keep a straight face.

I heard that god could quite easily be killed by a meteor, half a mile across, slamming into the earth.

Richard Dawkins suggested that mankind's existnce is very, very, unlikely and yet we are here was his conclusion. So why is one thing that seems unlikely any less unlikely than another. His statement was found in climbing mount improbable. And I have no problems with people questioning God if they are sincere i their quest. Truth is not injured by honest enquiry.

John 5
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

God cares about us because he is our Father. As imperfect as we are, we care about our children; God does so perfectly.

Where did God come from? Christ was born, died and was resurrected, an eternal perfect being. Christ said whatever things the Father did, the son did the same. That's where God came from.

Blasphemy some will say, a man becoming a God, but Christ was almost stoned for saying this....

John 10
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Here's an interesting tidbit I found recently in Apocrypha Arabica called KITĀB AL-MAGĀLL or
THE BOOK OF THE ROLLS.
ONE OF THE BOOKS OF CLEMENT.
"When the Lord comforted me with this, He said to me, ‘O Adam, grieve not, for thou art a god, as thou thoughtest to become by thy transgression of my commandment, and I will make p. 16 thee a god, not at this time, but after the lapse of years.’"

There is no God,
And there never was,
In fact the concept of god was created and evolved throughout the history by humans when they could not explain natural events around them,
Anything science can't explain is God:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_of_the_gaps
So in a sense humans created God!

He existed from evelasting to everlasting

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Psalms 90:2

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

How did God come to be?

An omni-everything God cannot be created. If He were created, that means there would be something greater, thus He were not omni-everything. Therefore, it is logical to conclude that God has always been and is the ultimate being.

Why would a God care?

Why not?

It's amazing to me that people can think that the universe can only be explained if there is a god who created it, and then think there is no need to explain how that god came to be.

It is even more amazing to me that they then go on to say that the Bible is an accurate description of that god.

It just goes to show that people will believe just about anything they are taught to believe, if enough other people seem to sincerely believe it.
