How do you know the people that wrote the Bible didn't put their own two-cents worth in, to shape it the way THEY thought it should be? What if God didn't "say" some of the things written in the Bible? What if they were added by people with their own agenda? How can you be so sure that the bible, which was written down by humans, and interpreted and translated by humans, IS truly what God intended? Have you thought about that?

Ah, I love fundies. Almost always white, almost always bigots, and ALWAYS believe they're correct.
Hmm...you believe the bible's completely factual to a t, right?
So, you believe that we should all be praying in closets away from where people can see us? Because that's part of Christianity; a part everyone likes to look over.
You believe that you should kill your own child or family if God declares? That's in there, too.
So men get to talk about things in church but women don't. I predict that the Christian faith is going to lose most of it's female crowd.
Look, I understand keeping the IMAGES and morals of the bible intact, but some of the laws have to change if you guys plan on ever being taken seriously by any other religions. And many of you need to understand that the Bible is a METAPHOR. It's used to give EXAMPLES of what God's power COULD do, not necessarily what it HAS done.
Granted, some of it, maybe. But not all of it.

Well since I don't believe god exist, then I don't believe in divine command theory. I think the laws in the Bible were written by men, and there is strong evidence for this. As the world and thought progresses, I think we can figure that some of the laws the men made back then do not apply now.

Almighty God says I CHANGE NOT.
He has not nor will He ever change.
Mankind is basically rebellious teenagers in comparison. Teenagers that are too immature & self-centered to understand, much less conceive or believe that an adult could possibly know anything. It takes living life and growing up to come to the point where those rebellious teenagers realize an adult was smart and right.

God sent Jesus so that the old laws of the OT would be negated and that we would no longer have to make sacrifices.
I believe that women can and do make fine ministers.
Women can teach in the church, be elders, deacons, etc.
I understand your viewpoint and respect it. I am glad that you love God. His law DOES stand forever.
It is as follows:
Love God, Accept Jesus, and love others as you do yourself. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
THAT is what is timeless for Christians.

People who believe in the bible can also see why others can't go for it. It is sexist . they try to rationalize it to make it sound like a good belief to have. They are trying to defend their Good Book the only way they know how. Like a salesman exaggerating a products good points. If someone came to you and asked you to believe in a book that encourages murder, incest, child abuse, and sexism, don't you think they'd have to dress it up a bit?

Alex's answer made me laugh so hard that diet coke came out of my nose!
The Bible was written by man, not God. If God's law should stand forever then you believe all non-virgin women should be stoned to death on their wedding day.
No, I do not believe in a perfect entity that is violent, jealous, angry and spiteful. I trust my own logic and reasoning abilities.

Judeo-Christian-Islamic beliefs have outdated moral concepts. You can
1) follow laws fit for a bronze age life style (organic ludite)
2) Re-interpret your holy books to modern life ( Reform judeo-Christian-Islamic)
3) find a religion that always made sense (non-Judeo-Christian-Islamic)
Each seeker must find their own path.

Mankind tries to bring God down to their level of understanding or belief.
Forgetting what he has said concerning himself through the Prophect Isaiah, in Isaiah 55:8; For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Many look at what thwe Law says at face value and not the Spiritual Essence of God's Law. The Spiritual Essence of God's Law is what it says in truth and not what it says regarding the letter of the law or what the law says at face value.
Like the minister who was driving down the street looking for a particular photo shop. He had some negatives he needed to get developed. As he continued down the road, he noticed up a head the shop he was looking for. But, it was on the opposite side of the road. As he continued moving closer, he realized, that to get to the other side, he would have to drive back around the block. Then he saw an opening between the south bound side, he was in, and the north bound side. But he would have to ver across to the north bound side at an angle to enter.
Which, with no vehicle in sight that he could see, he took this route. But, just as he pulled in, he saw a law enforcement vehicle, and the Officer inside saw him. He then continued on to the photo shop, expecting the Officer to follow him. But he didn’t. He thought to himself, the officer was busy and didn’t have time for him. But, just in case he quickly parked his vehicle garbed his negatives and quickly ran off in the photo shop to conduct his business. Thinking to himself, that he was a Christian and shouldn’t be running from the law. But, upon departing from the building, he saw the Officer, standing beside his vehicle, patiently waiting. It was then he realized the officer knew he wasn’t going no where, and knew he would be back. As he approached the Officer, he asked to see his driver license. He removed his license, and handed them to him. Then the Officer looked at him saying… Have you got any excuse for going the wrong way up a one way street? The Minister then thought to himself, going the wrong way, up a one way street? I just cut across the corner!
It was then that he realized, as far as the law was concerned, the “angle” doesn’t matter! That’s how the law objectively saw his transgression!
Take for example the 2nd Commandment, regarding the Spiritual Essence of the Law.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
The making of a graven image, mean’s, that you should not make a self-fit God.
That means a God that fit’s yourself, either with your hands or your minds!
And example of this is someone who says; My God isn’t a God of Wrath and Judgment, he one of Love and Mercy. He would never create a place called Hell!
When someone says this, agree with them, say, You’re right! Your god would never create a place called hell! He couldn’t. He doesn’t have the power to! Because, he doesn’t exist! He’s a figment of your imagination, in place of imagery. For you’ve molded and shaped a god to fit yourself. You’ve said, I’m the potter he’s the clay, and you’ve molded a god to fit you.
Its called Idolatry! It’s the oldest sin in the Bible.
Mankind modes and shapes a "god" that fits them, and their belief and their way of life.

'GOD SAID IT. I BELIEVE IT. THAT SETTLES IT!
My pastor says its God's word and I'm attributing my mindset to the mind of God. I can't dispute it. After all, I'm basing my entire life's philosophy on my perception of what God is saying. My unbending committment and refusal to discuss it with infidels also gains approval from my Christian friends.
