If you are feeling suicidal you need to contact someone. You also need to look into outpatient therapy.. Don't ever let yourself be alone when you are feeling this way because you will let your thoughts get to you.

HI, I'm no expert but I know that depression is endemic nowadays. Many of us don't have the support of family and community that more traditional societies have so we have to learn to take care of ourselves. Cognitive psychology is exectly what its name says: it is all about you thinking. A life event happens, then you think something about it, and only then do you feel. A very good place to start (and end?) is "Feeling Good", by David D. Burns, M.D. It's the self help book most recommended my mental health professionals. Check it out at Amazon.com. I sure wish I'd had the tools when I was 16. All the best.

This may just be coincidence, but I read what you wrote and was trying to think of some advice I could offer. I couldn't really think of anything, but then I noticed on the same page as your question was an advertisement for:
"depressionisreal.com"
The ad only had the site name and a picture of 3 people on it. I didn't go to the site, but maybe you should check it out and see if it helps any. I hope everything turns out well for you though.

You sound exactly like the average teenager they all say im not your average teenager and im not craving attention, and by the look of your question your telling complete strangers that you had suicidal thoughts and have been through alot it sounds like a yearning for attention to me. anyway about depression depression is a waste of time you cant waste time being depressed if its your relationship with your boyfriend thats depressing you maybe you shouldn't be in a relationship right now until you get your head straight, but believe me health and mental groups will know nothing about you and all they do is pass judgment your better off figuring out your own problems. but to me it sounds like you may have no friends people may pick on you and its just made you feel bitter inside, you need to find out why your depressed once you know youll overcome it if you really want to

Its ok dont feel bad about feeling this way. Im 15 and I feel this way too. I cant figure it out yet but I think im getting close. Im going to a therapist and if you do then make sure they listen to you and you feel comfortable talkingto them. Im not sure if there is a group, but if there was I would go to meetings. I really just need to talk to people my age, not som guy that is over 40 with kids, because there is no way he is going to undetrstand how i feel. I know what you mean about the thoughts though, and i agree, I could never do it. It is just really scary to be thinking about it. Do you have a good friend that you could talk to that wouldnt judge you and would want to help you? That really helps to know that someone else near you knows whats going on. Also if your family is the problem and you cant really talk to them and figure it out then you might ned to go to famly therapy sessions so that a neutral adult can help to control the people and make them listen. I think i shoul do it with my family, because we are a mess. Email me if you need something. Hope you figure things out, i know it is really confusing and hard to deal with.

Sweetheart, I know what it's like to be depressed. I've suffered with it for years. So I know what it's like
In regard to your parents, find a quite moment when everything is going on fine and tell one or both that you are having these kinds of feelings that you would like to get some therapy. Be very open with them.... Plan what you are going to say and how you are going to say. Even if you have to write it down and read it to them.
As for suicide. When I was in the sixth grade the mother of one of my friends committed suicide. I saw the torment my friend went through dealing with her mom's death and how she died. I promised myself I would never put my family through that kind of pain. Has the thought ever crossed my mind. Yes. But because of my friend I am never able to act upon it. Nothing is so bad it can't get better.

I've been thru depression, you NEED a therapist, not a DOCTOR. It really helps. They don't give you medications or anything. They just talk it out with you, with people other than anyone who could be making you depressed. I really suggest a therapist. Hope this helps! : )

You really need to talk to someone. Even if they don't offer advice, you really need someone to just listen to you. If it's easier, keep a journal and give it to someone who is caring and non judgemental to read. But you've got too much on your shoulders and in your head to brave this alone! Ask for help! Hang in there. Ask your doctor or your school counselor.

Please call your doctor asap and let him/her know how you are feeling. I was super depressed just a few years ago and went to my doctor. Turned out my hormones were all messed up and I started on a medicine called Wellbutrin - for depression. This past year I began doing yoga and was able to cut my medication in half.
