Dr Lynn Hilton in his seminal PDF file: The Kolob Theorem, has posited that the location of Kolob is the center of the Milky Way galaxy as a black hole. He uses physics of some kind my mathematician son is not aware of.

Also, Dr John Heinerman's book 'People in Space' suggests these same black holes may be the location of 'The Son's of Perdition's' Outer Darkness. He also leads the reader to think the residence of god-like beings on Barnard's Star, which is lot's closer to us (6 light-years) and moving closer still. Relatively. It will get as close as 3.8 light-years around 11,800 CE, so the second coming may be delayed.

A cool diagram about whatever the hell Joseph Smith was babbling on about is found at:

It was not until the 1920 that astronomers understood the the sun is part of the milky way galaxy. Today they are just learning that there are objects at the center of the galaxy that control the orbits of stars around the galaxy.

So what do the scriptures say?

2 And I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it;
3 And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.

So we have scripture published before the knowledge of these things that is supported by science.

Kolob is the star closest to where God resides. Read Abraham 3, in the Pearl of Great Price.

haha, i doubt they'll answer. I think there's a poem about it. Supposedly Joseph Smith knew about it, strange our telescopes that can see light years away can't see this planet of theirs. God is supposed to be near this planet.
