I don't know about it talking about your past, I got mine as a teenager.

Don't worry though, Mine talked to me about weaknesses and strengths, but not super specific, like it said to avoid temptation- but it did not say what temptations.

There is a part of it that I have noticed being repeated in other priesthood blessings I get.

The blessing are usually very general and can apply to different parts of your life.

Like it may say that you will get married in the temple, but it won't tell you when to to whom.

It may tell you that you are a strong leader, but it won't say you will be Relief Society President.

I would not worry too much. Also it won't be shared with anyone other than who you share it with. They don't even send it to the bishop. I think they may be kept on file at the Church offices in Salt Lake, but nobody looks at them. It will be between you, the patriarch, his wife and anyone you invite with you.

It is very personal. The patriarch and his wife will keep it in strict confidence and will not tell anyone what it said, not even your bishop. YOu are the only person who will get a copy.

Just stop stressing about it. Relax and when you get it, pray for the spirit to be with you and really listen to the wonderful blessings.

You should not be afraid of or worried about anything that is in your blessing. Remember that God loves you and whatever he communicates to you is the loving advice of a kind Parent. I don't think it could ever reveal "too much" in a way that would hurt you. My blessing mentions briefly some good decisions I made in the past, but nothing negative. Every blessing is unique, but keep an open mind and I'm sure you will be very happy with it.

Well, dear Sister, I am not sure if there is something about the past that is worrying you, but in general a patriarchal blessing will include things that apply to you as an individual. I was told that after I received it, I might want to make a list of commandments, blessings, and warnings. I have also looked at phrases which seemed a bit unusual and studied scriptures about those topics. The blessings you receive are dependent on your obedience and faithfulness. Don't listen to the critical voices on this website. I have read my siblings' patriarchal blessings and every one of them is unique. Of course some phrases may sound "familiar" - when people grow up attending church and praying and reading scriptures, certain phrases will be used. Some things I read in my siblings' patriarchal blessings were also things I wanted to incorporate into my life as well. Some phrases rather mystified me at first, but over the years they have grown to have more interesting and deeper meanings. Hope this helps. Good luck, and I am sure you will have a memorable experience.

I've seen Patriarchal Blessings that reveal things of the future, the past and Things of Before this life. Like I said, it depends on what you want to know. The Patriarch will ask you.

The blessing is private and personal and is about your potential if you continue to live the gospel, what your talents are, and what Heavenly Father has planned for you.

Mine is amazing - all the promises it gives, which I thought were impossible at the time, have come to pass. Mine doesn't talk about my past except to mention that I had been very courageous in joining the church. The Patriarch knew nothing about me, so I know that came from Heavenly Father.

A Patriarchal blessing can talk about ANYTHING! It really depends upon what you need to know. It will talk about your lineage for sure, but then what else it says is really personal. Mine talks a lot about my heritage but doesn't say much about "in your life you'll do this or do that". It gives me counsel, even after all these years, but it is not, nor was it ever fortune telling. It is general enough to apply to a lot of different instances, but is ever a guide for me.

Congratulations. These milestones are so wonderful.

Your Patriarchal blessing is about you. If you have repented for the things done in your past, do not worry. If you were not worthy of receiving this blessing, you would not be able to receive it. The things that we have done in our past do affect our future. This is something that we can all learn from. Do what you feel is right.

In reading what others have posted, I had always thought that your blessing was something special to you, and that you should not share that special blessing with others ....... online! I guess that I'm one of those from the old days. Avoid novels ..... get real!

I do not consider that it can "reveal too much." The patriarchal blessing is all about your potential and about who you can become if you live faithfully. Regardless of what you have done, or what you may do it the future, the blessing simply points out what you can become if you live righteously. How you live your life from kn ow on is what is important.

According to Mormonism it does not reveal too much, or to little, just right, and it could talk about your history if God for some reason wanted to.

It is very individual. Some people only have one paragraph. Others a few pages.
Mine reads like scripture but just for me and I cherish the words. Yes it is given by man but it certainly talks just to me from the Lord. It doesn't tell of predictions. It has more like instruction.
Mine says to avoid novels. That sits well for me.
