What religion you choose is not the criteria Jesus judges you on. He sees and weighs your heart.
God promises to give wisdom to any who ask Him. His words are always Truth! Take Him up on His promise.
Ignore what men say. Listen to what God says. Pray, read the Bible, think for yourself!
May the Lord bless you and your search for Truth.

When choosing a religion, you should check what they claim against the Bible. If the doctrine is not in line with the Bible, it is a false religion.
**2 Peter 2:1
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
**Matthew 7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
**1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
**Romans 3:4
Let God be true, but every man a liar
**Psalm 118:8
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

I guess it depends on how far astray you go.
The Bible is your guide. There are denominations out there that are sort of close to the Bible, but they have strayed from the truth of the Bible in various ways.
Some say that baptism is not essential to salvation, where the Bible clearly states that only those who are baptized can be saved.
Some say you save yourself by doing good things, but the Bible clearly states that salvation is a gift from God, offered freely so nobody can boast about saving themselves. Good works are required, but that is not what saves you.
So, your job is to compare whatever teachings you hear to the scriptures. If you detect a difference, question it. If your church does not directly and completely answer your question, then the church may be a false denomination.
We are not supposed to follow a human being, but the Bible. We are warned in the Bible against false teachings and false teachers.
There are True Christians all over, even in denominational churches. A denominational church might be the only one you have available, but if you become personally responsible for your walk of faith, you can still be saved. Learn what the Bible says, and compare that to what you hear in the church.
My personal choice is a Church of Christ congregation, because it follows the examples set forth in the Bible closely and encourages each person to compare what they hear to the scriptures. They even help us to test the teachings by scriptural references and cross references.
These congregations are separate and are not subject to any overall governing board, or leadership structure not outlined in the Bible. They have Deacons and Elders, appointed at the congregation level, just like the Bible says to do. They do not answer to any particular man or set of man-made rules.

I think that no matter where you end up after you die, there are many paths to get there. People of many different faiths will probably be together after death. No matter what people believe, I truly think that they all end up in the same place after death.
