Okay, so the groom is a fishing addict who lives to fish and the bride is rather indifferent to the whole fishing scenario. So, do you have any gift ideas that could relate to his love of fishing and that could maybe allow her to enjoy fishing a bit more? Or is this just a hopeless cause?

Nope. It's not a hopeless cause. You said the groom likes fishing. OK. Figure out what fishing gear he has first, make a list of fishing gear that he doesn't have, and pick the best gift you feel is right.

You can't go wrong with a Gift Certificate from LL Bean or the Orvis Company. Both of them have websites and mail order catalogs. Their products range from good quality clothing to durable travel bags (and everything in between).

How about a party barge rental so he can fish while she sunbathes on the deck?
A weekend at a spa in the mountains so he can fish while she gets a full body massage and skin exfoliation?
A weekend at a cabin by a lake where he can fish off the dock for crappie and she can fish off the dock for compliments on her swimsuit and tan?
A trip to a NASCAR driving school so they can both learn how to effectively peel out?

Both my husband and I love to fish, so we would have welcomed your present. On the other hand, a couple we know fight all the time-he loves to fish, she doesn´t.

Don´t even try to make her like fishing, if anything, she won´t like it more if the gift revolves around something she doesn´t like.

Find out what both of them enjoy-I got a kitchenaid type of setup for our wedding, and I love to cook, my husband loves to eat.

It is not up to you to get that situation on track. That is between him and her. If you give them a gift pertaining to fishing, she will probably think that the gift was for him only, and get her feelings hurt. That would be rude. Give them a gift for the both of them to share. Then if you want to get a pole or something for her later, you may do so.

you could give them a gift to spend the day on a boat fishing with a "professional". someone who could teach her, and also he could enjoy fishing. maybe just a night at a lake, set up a spa for her and a fishing trip for him,and the night together...they'd both be happy.

I've seen a couple of new gadgets advertised on TV lately. One is a fishing pole that casts itself, the other is an collapsable pole that folds down enough it will fit in your pocket. I also noticed at Walmart the other day that they have pink and purple fishing poles. Maybe some "fashionable" fishing gear?

a wedding gift should be something useful for both people. if my husband liked fishing and someone got US fishing gear, i would feel it is HIS present, not mine.
