Following a true baptism, for the remission of sin, there is no hard-and-fast rule written anywhere that forced you to go to church.

Church, however, is there to educate you in how to lead your new life, and to encourage you along the way. It is not easy to give up the sins you are used to doing.

And, of course, Satan wants you back. He will up the temptations to try to make you fall, then trick you into thinking that being a Christian is "too hard" or that you are "missing out" on things.

Church also gives you opportunities to perform good works. While these will not save you, they are required. Faith without works is dead, as stated in the Bible.

Also, fellowship with others doing the very same thing is good. You can share your struggles, and maybe get some pointers from other members of the church. You can surround yourself with wholesome goodness, and you can become a mentor, an example, or an encouragement to others.

You also have the opportunity to participate in all elements of worship. Praise, Singing, Communion, Offering, and Praying are all such elements in which you can be fully involven at Church.

So while not absolutely required, attending church regularly is a good idea, overall.

No. I don't think that being in a certain place on certain days of the week has anything to do with God. That's a human tradition that has no effect on your soul. The real measure of where you'll end up is how you live your life. There are a lot of Christians out there who are intolerant, hateful people, much more so than some of the atheists and other-religion people I've met (I'm Lutheran). I don't even think you have to be baptized to go to Heaven. I think that if you are respectful to others, their lives, to your life, and to a higher being if you believe in one, then you're doing fine.

RoseMarie,
Why do you ask? we are told that the First Century Christians gave as they had been prospered and partook of the LORD'S SUPPER on the First Day of the Week. They also gathered with the saints. They also studied GOD'S WORD from house to house. I personally want to do what the first century Christians did because they were following the Apostles Doctrine as they were supposed to do. Don't you believe that we should be doing so too? Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38

"Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River." Matthew 3:6

"...that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life." For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:15-16

"For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise himup at the last day." John 6:40

"I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life." John 6:47

No matter what ANYONE tells you, (even me!) ;-) check it out with the Bible it is Gods purpose for you to know Him personally and it is your "life" instruction book. This is the ONLY way to know the truth. You don't want to error when it comes to eternity. Hugs from me to you!!!

Salvation comes by trusting Jesus Christ as the payment for your sin debt. Neither baptism or going to church (or anything else for that matter) are enough to get you into Heaven. If anything we could do would be enough to get us into Heaven, then there would have been no reason for God to send Jesus to die for us. His perfect sinless life is all that is acceptable as payment for our sins. See Scriptures below...

**Romans 3:23
For ALL have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God.
**Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
**Ephesians 2:8-9
For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH, and that NOT of yourselves: it is the gift of God. NOT by works, lest any man should boast.
**John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."

No, but going to church is so that we can help others, and find help for ourselves, But you must in addition to baptism, ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Saviour, and ask forgivness of you sins, and he will be just and faithful to forgive your sins. God Bless you!

baptism does not get you to heaven either, we have to pray to be forgiven our sins by Jesus Christ and to follow him with our lives and believe he died on the cross for us.
