No one can possibly believe that all of the catholic people on the plant are evil. I dont see how anyone could believe that about any religion/belief. Not all of the questions, but many of the catholic bashing ones are hurtfull to me. Its mostly the ones that generlize. I admit, and so do all catholics, on what wrongs happen. We dont worship mary, but that wont change peoples minds (they seem to know more about my faith then I do) and we dont worship saints. So why bash the faith? Is it to hurt the followers or do people really think that by posting on Y!A that catholics are bad no one will join the church?

I think people attack Catholicism because it it is so deep in the media to bash Catholicism that they may not realize who rude or insensitive their comments would be. Can you imagine if people on TV talked about Islam like they do about Catholicism? They would be fired for their 'insensitivity'.The people who diss Catholics on YA are simply rude or trying to get people upset, we need to pray for them and hope they realize the errors of their ways.

This board has lots of trolls and adolescent airheads who are happy to bash everyone and everything. Still, I'm sure you're aware the Catholic church has got lots of bad publicity in recent years due to the abuse scandals. The LA diocese just settled for $660 million according to the papers and that's just the tip of the ice burg. The church's reputation has taken a beating --a justifiable beating. I'm really sorry if that offends you but there it is.

I don't think people bash the church to hurt the followers as you suggest but nobody can deny that the church has a lot to answer for. And I think people are right to be suspicious of the Catholic church. We'd be foolish not to.

I am a former Catholic and I don't bash Catholics. I don't believe they worship saints but they do pray to them and there is no evidence in scripture that we should do this. Something this important would have been at least mentioned. I have great respect for Mary but I am afraid that the Catholic church has elevated her into a position that is heretical. calling her the co -redeemer. Only Jesus died for our sins. Again Jesus and the apostles made no mention of this elevated status which I believe if she knew about she would be deeply grieved that people are putting thier eyes on her rather than the true Saviour. They also suggest she remained ever virgin. For what purpose? Is sex sin? God created it and told Adam to go forth and multiply before the fall. So why would she need to remain a virgin? Agian scripture makes no such claim about Mary. She was a sinner that needed to be saved like the rest of mankind. It is unfortunate that some people view any disagreement as anything more than it is disagreement. To view others who simply disagree as bashers can possibly due to insecurity of your own beliefs although they may make the same claim about anyone who disagrees with them. Sadly in my Fahers day, they were forbidden to go to other churches and ask questions. Imagine Jesus condemning someone for asking honest questions. If asking questions was wrong then he couldn't blame them for remaining in their own beliefs.

I am a bit shocked that any Christian would bash the Catholics. I was raised Catholic and remember them laying out the plan of salvation and believing in Christ finished work on the cross. That means they are 100% Christian. The Pope made a statement that was clearly opposed to the Bible. People reacted to that. Many people do not know that the position of the Pope was the position of the Catholic church until the mid 1960's . I have also heard many of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ say that Catholics are not saved and that too is clearly opposed to Biblical teaching. I am personally worried about the division this is causing in the body of Christ. The fruit is obviously not of GOD.

Anti Catholicism, much of which seems to be based on ignorance or personal issues with individuals who happen to be Catholic, is one of the foundational bigotries of the English-colonized world since the Reformation.

Much of this bigotry refers back to atrocities done by Catholics in the often remote past (and often exaggerated to the point of basic falseness) while ignoring or defending atrocities done to Catholics.

While there is still the old Protestant -generated Anti-Catholicism, there is also secularist Anti Catholicism which often uses old prejudices and grievences as a starting point but objects to any objective morality or external spiritual or moral authority.

Some are Anti Catholic because they want to jump on someone of a group against whom it is socially acceptable (or even rewarded) to attack since this will build up ego or prestige in a particular subgroup.Anti Catholicism is the one bigotry that appeals to both the extreme Right and Left.

Some people are insecure about their own theological or ideological or "lifestyle" positions and act out negatively since they think that a strong offense is the best defense but in theological and ethical matters they are very mistaken.

The Pope never will fail you on good advise.. :)
There are popularity contests people seem to hold within themselves. In real life situations, and on Yahoo Answers. The ruder the person is the bigger laugh they get. When it comes down to being alone and thinking within their own thoughts, they have nothing. But they do keep wondering and thinking about what it might be to be you for a moment. Good news is people that tease and pick on others, is they are thinking about you. Give them that much!

I'm pretty sure most people only bash Catholicism based on its actions in the past. I only bash those who attempt to lash out at us people on the sidelines. Almost always, people are bashing the actions of PAST followers, and I'm pretty sure that it's not meant to hurt you guys. If it does, I'm sorry. * hugs *

....It IS sorta depressing though. :*O I mean, you're born a sinner and die a sinner. <.<; That's my only beef with Catholicism, not catholics.

I will tell you the same thing I tell my kids if someone is picking on them at school.

People will pick on you and treat you badly because for a moment, it makes them feel better about themselves. They think it makes them a bigger person. But in all honestly it makes them very small.

It also usually means they are insecure and/or jealous of you. I tell my kids that they should pray for the mean kids. So I'll tell you, pray for the "mean kids" here at YA.

I wouldn't worry over it until Nero tries to pin his arson on us again. Or feed us to wild animals. There are a lot of half-witted people who know half-truths and go off half-******.
Well, that's the best half answer I think I've attempted yet.

Let's get this straight.

BY CATHOLIC RULES you have to accept the Churches (Pope's) views on things or you are a HERETIC and can be EX-COMMUNICATED. You are NOT allowed to QUESTION.

The POPE is INFALLABLE

The current Pope is doing his best to alienate Muslims, Hindus, Protestants, Buddhists.

He has gone on RECORD as saying if you're not a Catholic you lose!

Now, how are WE supposed to deal that kind of a point of view!

Turn the other cheek.

Well, how come you aren't doing that!

To borrow from Shakespear: Eh too, Brutus!

Like it or not, you just JUMPED into the mud to play with us!

Welcome to the mud slinging event! You are now an equal.
