You have been misled by all the hype. If you have a t-shirt that says "Tommy" on it, you have been duped. If you believe any of what you wrote, you have been duped. If you wear 'designer jeans', you have been duped. If you think you must have the latest Nike or Adidas shoes, you have been duped. If you believe everything you see or hear on TV or the I-net, you have been duped.
You ARE correct about the world going through stages, but that's not our fault. The poles aren't going to melt, polar bears, arctic foxes and wolves aren't dying off, the seas won't go into flood stage, and you can't stop, change, or "fix" nature. Nature always recovers and ignores anything man does, except of course when man tries his futile attempts to change nature. Then nature rebels and makes what man does into a big mess, and then returns itself back to normal.
And al gore is laughing at you all the way to his bank.

Don't blame your TV, there is enough blame to go around. It all comes down to values and your place on the environmental scale. Even if animals were not going to be extinct due to our interventions (as some say), I still don't like to see all the "junk" we have and own. I hate walking around with litter around me. Yes, the climate is cyclical, but people have changed it (not for the better) with the smog and pollution. There really is no real argument for buying more things. I guess I don't understand the frenzy whenever a new "i-something" comes out, the lines of consumers waiting for days to be the first to own something. It's not my value system. Lets see: More goods & services, more energy used, more pollution, higher cancer rates, higher asthma rates, higher medical payments, higher gas rates.....better lifestyle? Our economy may depend on it, but our lives depend on a little moderation.

Maybe you should start by recycling your computer, TV, hair dryer, and anything else that uses coal fueled electricity.... Also so we don't have to listen to your alarmist crap! Another thing, you environmentalist wackos complain about switching over to clean energy, yet oppose the cleanest most efficient energy source available; nuclear energy, which is also how the sun provides us with energy, NUCLEAR FUSION!
Polar bears are seeing a surge in their population numbers for one, the ice caps in Greenland are actually getting thicker in the dense middle area, only melting in small portions around the outer edges. Mars is heating up, just like we are. Implying that it is not our doing, it's the sun! Not to mention, the earth has been heating and cooling in cycles for a couple billion years. We are a minute speck in that time scale.
I totally agree with recycling, reusing and reducing what we use and waste. But I am not going to destroy our society and our economy to do so. It would be national suicide!

Nah saysers. Where in this artacle doeas it say because it happens on mars its not caused by us on earth. Climate chage if you belive the natural cycles theory would mean that for mars and earth to be warming at the same time that both plantets orbits have varied so that both are colser to the sun but i havent seen evidence to suggest that.
'Finally, and most importantly, even if cosmic ray intensity does turn out to influence cloud cover and temperature, it cannot explain the warming trend of the past few decades. Direct measurements of cosmic ray intensity going back as far as 50 years show no downward trend coinciding with the recent warming.'

first thing i did was turn off the t.v. because it's mostly negative programming, i do all my Green research on the net, and yes i am learning to live with what i got, we got to use some old fashioned common sense mixed with some high tech green tech. let's do it now , i started already, recycling and reusing and refusing to be a "consumer" just for the sake of having. needs are only what i buy , if a mistake is made i learn.

Assuming you're correct, what's the point? Because of population growth, the earth's population doubles every 35 years, so we'll have twice as many people using "stuff."

I agree. It's other stuff to, but when we see someone have it better, we want it too. People get mad at me,but I believe the problem is things are too cheap. I would want to se gas price go up so more people would conserve. I know a place that sell candle holders for a 1.50 . BOught hundreds of them for all my coworkers. If tehy were expensive, I would not buy any. I know they said they want it, but I also know most of them are wasted.

TV is not the problem. It may be expediting the problem but the problem is greed, displaced values and ignorance.
Do what you can but don't live your life in a state of guilt because that's almost a worse pollution than the aerosol spray can.

Good point, and it all starts with yourself. You can't control everyone else's actions, even if they are destructive. All you can do is make people aware of the problem and how they are contributing. It is their decision whether or not to be good environmental citizens.

I can't agree with you any more!
Of,course we can ! We can do a lot to make our planet more comfortable,in my daily life I do as posibble as I can ,but others don't,maybe they don't know how to do,or they just don't have that awareness,it's really sad!
