this morining my 6 yr old son came up and hit me. i told him to stop i was washing dishes, a few min later i seen him out the corner of my eye running towards me, so i swung my arm around was gonna stop him but he was closer then i though he was and i hit his head with my hand..(i think i hit him pretty hard not sure) but he fell face first on the floor and hit his nose and forehead. his nose started bleeding a lil bit not much.. but after he cried about 5 min he was fine.. and he has been fine all day i haven't noticed him acting any differant. this happened like 10 hours ago, he said awhile go his head was hurting .. but sometimes when he gets sleepy he says his head hurts.. he is still acting fine. and he looks fine.. maybe its just that i feel so bad about what happened... i dont believe in hitting kids so when i do and not mean to like earlier i feel horrible..do you think he is ok? or should i worry? he has no bruise or anything..if he had a problem wouldnt there be signs by now?

don't worry he'll be fine and accidents happen. my son who is 16 months old fell flat on his face from a bench at the baseball field. he busted his mouth open and cried a little then wanted to play again. if he complains of a headache tomorrow then give him children's tylenol. my head would hurt too if i crashed and burned on the floor. keep your chin up you were actually trying to prevent injury.

Don't worry, I'm sure he's just fine.
While the head does definately need to be protected, falling on his face in the manner you described wouldn't have harmed him. In fact, kids are a lot tougher than we give them credit for.
Falling on the back of his head, flush with the floor, may have been able to cause him some harm, but falling on his face wouldn't have. Even if he had a light bruise, he'd probably be okay. Since he didn't hit the back of his head, he didn't fall from a serious distance, and there is no bruise, then he's fine.
If he were (or if he is) lethargic, vomiting, unable to focus on an object, or feeling strong pains consistantly since he fell, that would be a cause for concern. If that's what's going on, take him to the ER, or call his doctor's office and speak to a nurse.
Give him lots of TLC, and maybe a tylenol if he says he has a headache. You didn't do anything wrong, so try not to feel guilty. This was as much an accident as it would have been if he had tripped on his shoelace.

Kids heads can take a lot of hits. My two year-old's nickname is "Bruiser" because he can't go more than a week without a bruise on his forehead. I thought I would have to take him to the ER once because he had climbed up on a dining room chair and fell off backwards and hit the back of his head on our hardwood floor. My husband and I kept an eye on him, and he was fine. When it is our fault that our kids get hurt it makes us feel even worse than if they do it to themselves. Don't beat yourself up. Accidents happen.

If he doesn't even have a bruise he should be fine. Accidents happen try not to beat yourself up about it. You should probably teach him not to run at you while you are doing dishes because you could have been cleaning a knife or something and slipped or fallen when he hit you.

From what you tell us I would say he is fine. Kids are quite resilient. I have 4 and these things do happen now and then. Not to worry.
