Yes. They do. A little almost grabbed my hair(which is really long) doing that dumb crap in church. Then she proceeded to almost smack me in the face. Something tells me those where not her "Holy Ghost".

Gravity and different "rules" of nature are area of God's introduction. The earth's magnetic field is from God....why are there some planets that have not got magnetic fields? Or they are so susceptible that gravity is exceptionally much no longer something? Its because of fact devoid of the magnetic field existence could desire to no longer exist in the worldwide, this one in all the scientific proofs of God's existence. It did no longer purely take place by danger or because of fact of a few super explosion. The universe is purely too suitable for it to have occurred this manner. in case you dropped a bomb right into a junkyard...you will not anticipate to discover afterwards a sparkling automobile that became waiting so which you will rigidity away...No! God is the single, the writer and Sustainer of all of the universe, the seen and the unseen. Allahu Akbar!!!!

I'd like to be able to quote the Bible verse that says that if an unbeliever comes to a meeting and people are speaking in tongues that they will think you are out of your mind(not that you are-it's just something unbelievers don't understand) so prophesying is recommended instead but you said I couldn't.

Your question takes me back to January of 1983. Playing basketball, I blew out my left ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). I fell to the floor, and strange words and gruntings started coming out of my mouth. Must've looked really stupid, 'cause everybody from three courts over stopped playing and stared at me!
But as far as looking stupid while speaking in tongues, it shouldn't. 1Cor 14:27-28 explains that if there is nobody to interpret, then speaking in tongues should be quiet, between you and God. So if you witnessed someone speaking in tongues, and there was no interpreter of it, you didn't see someone "acting stupid", you saw someone "acting disobedient" to God's word.
BTW - If speaking in tongues was just speaking in another language, no interpreter would be needed. Just a translator.

As a Christian I would have to say stupid no. Awkward for the observer? Yes. But, as speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift, who am I to question the ways of the Lord.

I don't think the Christians that do that really care about how they look. Also, I would like to point out that this question implies that all Christians do this, which is not realistic. Not all Christians do this.
Also, if you're going to insult the intelligence of other people, the least you could do is spell SPEECHES correctly.

I've never seen a Christian speak in tounges....
My parents told me about some doing this and my first question was "Do they think God can't understand English?"

No. As a matter if fact, we don't have anything better to do. I mean what else can be better than spending time with God? Enjoying worldly things? I think not. God bless you my friend. ;)
