Catholics seem to realize that they are of christian faith but a lot of protestants (and similar) seem confused. Don't they have a dictionary or is it simply that most protestants were told they were just christians so it is hard for them to believe otherwise? Both sects worship Christ.

As far as I'm concerned, a Christian is one who believes in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. But historically there has always been a rift between Catholics and Protestants. This is because the Catholics claim to be the only right church, whereas the Protestants believe the Catholic doctrine is in error so they broke away from the church and started their own religions. So there you have it: Protestants believe that the Catholics have deviated from the original teachings of Christianity, and the Catholics view Protestants as apostates.

I am not a Protestant, nor a Catholic, but I do consider myself a strong Christian. This has always been a topic of interest to me. It's interesting to see that people in general have SO many different definitions as to what a "Christian" is. For me, it is anyone who accepts Christ as the Savior and strives to live like him and keep his commandments. But a lot of the time, people add restrictions to who is a Christian and who isn't. These restrictions are often meant to exclude everyone but their own sect.

I've never seen the point in all of this nitpicking because I don't think that Christ has a chosen few. I think he loves us all and anyone who wholeheartedly believes in him and accepts him as the Savior is deserving of a Christian label in my book. I think we should learn to respect that in other people instead of this "I'm a better Christian than you" nonsense.

I don't know about the bickering but The Catholics Have the Bible and really mis interpt it. I cant figure out where it said to pay the preist for you sins , when Christ (which they believe )came to earth to do.I have never seen anybody ,other than the bisop or preist, carry a Bible in the congragation its like the preist are the only ones with the answers.I am here to tell you GODS GOT THE ANSWERS not man .We think we have them all and so we start to rely on our own knowlege ,and we don't ask God whats right. And to put Mary in the same league with Jesus is obsured.God found favor in Mary ,she wasn't a God. In Revelations It said that there was no one worthy to open the book of life, but behold the Lamb of God that was slain thats Jesus. The whole Bible talks about CHRIST not Mary .She didn't die for our sins Christ did i really think alot of Catholics don't read the bible they just rely on man to tell them what to believe. I love them for they do believe in Christ so that makes them bothers and sisters but I am TICKED at the brain washing clergy

I don't bother with bickering. I'm Catholic, and I honor other believers in Christ as fellow Christians, regardless of denomination.

For the same reasons that Sunnis and Shi'ites argue as to are the real Muslims.

Individuals have their own lives and experiences and they interpret what they see, hear and read through that background.

Not bickering. Someone asks a question and others answer. Some answers are wrong some are right. Some are corrections to the wrong answers. I don't get the confusion either.

I haven't noticed any bickering. The nearest thing to it that I've seen are your snide little barbs like, "Don't they have a dictionary?"

Peace be with you.

Denominations tend to subvert, alter, or recreate The Holy Bible to suit their own purposes...dogma. As far as I am concerned if it is not found in the KJV of The Holy Bible then it is suspect.
