What I mean by this is should I call the place back after awhile and check on the status of my application? If so, how long should I wait before doing so? Would it be ok to call, or should I go up there in person? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying very hard to get a job for a couple months now and no luck. All I'm doing is turning in applications and never checking back in. I think that may be my problem. Anyway, thanks for reading and your help.

Other than wait, keep tabs. If you must pester them do so, but know your limits.
Someone who shows interest in the job, will do anything to get the job. Some managers like applicants who take charge. That means that the applicant is serious in building company productivity.

Good luck!

Attach a resume to your application. It will give you additional opportunity to sell what you have to offer.

Definitely check back. I'd do so via telephone after a week. Ask for the manager & see if he/she got your application. Ask if they have any opportunities & if they have a time frame for interviewing people yet. Let them know you're interested in working there.

It would be fine to give them a call in about a week after leaving off you application, if nothing more then to let them know you are still interested. They may mention if the position has been filled or if they are still considering candidates for the position at that time. Keeping your name fresh in their minds can't hurt.

Go back and ask to speak to the hiring manager so he/she can put a face to the application and you will stand out. go back after about a week.
