I think you have a God given gift of encouragement. Like Barnabas. If you are shocked by the things people tell you don't let on. You have a great opportunity for ministry to the wounded of spirit. Praise the Lord for this gift. Keep loving them and encouraging them. You are being used of God. I have found your answers and questions to be helpful at times as well. The Holy Spirit will give you the words to speak even when you are at a loss. Keep it up. God Bless!

That happens to me a lot too. Strangers at the grocery store telling me deeply personal problems. I think some people just have a demeanor and body language that lets others trust them very quickly.
Awkward thing for me is that they point-blank ask me to pray for them (I'm an Atheist.)
The best thing is to care. Offer an encouraging word. What else can you do?

I have the same thing going. It means that people trust you, and you are good to confide in. It's a good thing. Just talk to them, obviously they need someone to talk to and you're that person. Help them with what they need to be helped with. It's not a curse, it's a gift.

Please forgive me for sounding overly "churchy" but I think your best first step would be to go to God directly in prayer and ask Him what's going on and why.
Yes, there is a time and place for those who are hurting to come to their brothers and sisters in Christ but I know what it's like to have people LOAD you down with their personal problems, to the point where you feel completely drained. This is not good, and if this is what happening to you it could possibily be a tactic the devil is using to bring down one of God's tender hearted believers. So, please for your sake and the sake of those who are confiding in you pray and ask God for His wisdom.

Maybe people feel God's love in you. The " Christ like" thing to do would be to listen.

i share the same exprience with you.
sometimes it's in you eyes that people see that you... trustworthy. it's a rare thing.
sometimes people just want someone to listen to them..yes, to just listen and smile. to console even without saying a word.. that's listening. to look them in the eye while they're talking and touch them on the arm or shoulders that's consoling.. to listen and to console those are christlike qualities..

Many people prefer to express their problems to strangers than to friends or family. Is true.

Some people are very lonely and they think you are a lovely soul.
What would Christ do? I think he would listen too
