It seems like my partner and I have to many past issues to be in a relationship but I love him very much and want to be with him. How can I make my past issues stay in the past and help him with his?

i know from first hand experience, that you can't leave past issues in the past, till first you resolve them!!! THEY HAVE AWAY OF SNEAKING BACK IN UNINVITED!!! IT'S LIKE WALKING THROUGH LIFE DRAGGING A BALL AND CHAIN AROUND YOUR ANKLE.... maybe both of you can get some counseling.......best wishes !!!

If he has issues with your past then those issues will always be there, regardless of how hard you try to cover them under the rug.
He probably needs more help letting go of past events and pay more attention to what's happening around him right now. Tell him to wake up. He's here. Not back there.

i believe love love conquers any past issues if your both really in love with each other. everyone has a past and different things they are not proud of or things they wish they never did. you both could go see someone to talk out your problems and your past issues. or you guys could take a break and like the ole saying goes. if you love something let it go and if it is meant to be it will come back to you. only your hearts can decide what true feelings you both have for each other and how strong it is. its not going to happen over night. but, the best things in life come with age and with time. i will be keeping you in my prayers dee

i have the same problem about bringing up the past and i wish my girl would of never did what she did but i can't change it, i love her to much to go and break this good thing we have going on so i just forget about it and go on with my life like it never happened, but i do look at her like she is still the same person past or no past

It's not just about you, both parties have to be willing to move forward and let go of all that old stuff. I believe when people love each other enough they will do anything and over look everything to make it work.

you can forgive but never forget past issues will always be a problem he cant let it go you can try some thearpy it might help if you really invested in the relationship.
