If you say God Damn towards somethin/one, it's bad. But if you sa it in a song, is it still bad?

God Bless You is a prayer for someone's health and well-being. The other phrase is, well, decidedly not! "Vengeance is mine," says the Lord! Christians do not desire that any be damned. But the phrase is usually not used as a prayer for someone's damnation. It is usually used as an vile oath. It is a violation of the 3rd Commandment, which says, "Those shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." Following is an excerpt from the Shorter Catechism of the Westminster Confession: Q. 54. What is required in the third commandment? A. The third commandment requireth the holy and reverent use of God's names, titles, attributes, ordinances, word and works. Q. 55. What is forbidden in the third commandment? A. The third commandment forbiddeth all profaning or abusing of anything whereby God maketh himself known. Q. 56. What is the reason annexed to the third commandment? A. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Saying that and the word "Oh my G**" is breaking one of the ten Commandments. And it is bad in a song aswell.

I don't know. I don't think. I guess you should be careful to follow the ten commandments, but remember, there is no Bible passage against swearing. Make sure that the word "God" isn't in vain.

But why is saying, "Goddamn!" a bad thing, anyway? It's not like you're saying something bad about God.

Yeah, it's still bad. I've noticed that they actually censor it in songs like any other cuss word.
