Cats have terrific night vision, much better than a humans or a dogs. Your kitten can see as well in the dark as she can in the light. Leaving the light on won't comfort her when you are not there. Try giving her a piece of clothing you have worn that has your scent.

Color blindness and light tolerances are 2 seperate issues.

Color blind means they don't see color. Everything is black, white, and shades of gray. They need light to see, just less than people do.

Does that make sense? They need minimal light to see everything in shades of gray.

Whether to leave the light on or not is another completely seperate issue. It has to do with body rhythms, sleep/awake cycles. If your house has windows, and gets sunlight during the day, don't bother leaving lights on. If you live in a basement and there is no light, leave a light on.

Good luck

Cats are not color blind (google it). Since cats can see far better (six times better) at night, a light is hardly necessary.

Cats are not color blind. Neither are dogs.

And yes, they can see light, no matter where the light comes from.
