Call your social service agencies and churches and ask for recommendations. Then go to the programs recommended and ask about licensing. Ask what credentials their teachers/childcare workers have, and try to observe a classroom in progress. Ask if they can give you some parents names so you can check their references. You are your child's main advocate. Please don't be afraid to change care providers if you have hesitations about your current provider. Your child needs and deserves top quality care at the age when so much important development is occurring.

Go to naccra.org They will give you a list of Child Care Resource and Referral agencies in NYC that can help you. Affordability may be an issue but the agency may be able to help you find out if you are eligible for subsidized care.
