Lots of people on Y!A have commented on my Atheism (good and bad, but mostly positive).

Pretty much nobody has said anything in my real life, i guess we have more important things on our minds..

I'm not Muslim but I was raise a catholic. When I was 7, my baby sister died. My grandmother told me that god took her with him (meaning she was in a better place now). I kept on thinking to myself, how could god do this? have a little baby die. For the next 10 years, I did not pay attention to any religion, I hated the concept of god, and argued with people about go, saying that he did not exist. I was an atheist. People tried to shove religion down my throat. I did not like it. Now, I'm 22, and my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I was devasted and the only thing that I did to cope with the fear and worry, was to pray. I asked god to please give me a sign and that if he did, I was gonna believe. My mom's biopsy came out good, non malignant. Now I believe in god, but not in religion. I don't consider myself a catholic. And I learned not to discuss my religious beliefs with others. What i believe, is totally independent from what you or someone else believes. Well, nobody has told me something nice lately, 'cos I don't say anything anymore. I didn't want to tell you my whole lifestory, just explain to you my personal view on religion :)

Dear Zoe S...Your grandmother is only repeating what her priest told her. It is simply not true.
Have you thought what a loving God thinks about priests who teach such lies.
It makes God seem like a selfish ogre.
Heaven is filled with his angels. Why would a loving God want one more and take a child away from its mother.
We die becaue we are imperfect. And it is not natural.
death was not in God's original plan. It was brought about by Adam and Eve's disobedience.
(Genesis 2:16-17) And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

They could have obeyed and never died.

And God has a plan to do away with death.

(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

As for your sister, she is asleep in death and will be resurrected. Rev. 20; 12,13....Ecclesiastes 9 ;5,6

And not to heaven, but back to the earth...with no death and no sickness.

When I tell people that I believe in God but not in religion, some have said "that must be a great thing to have that "lightness of being"..........

"Wow. I am Christian, but can deeply appreciate the questions (and the revolt against Christian arrogance) that this blog represents. Many of them are very valid, but what amazes me more is that you've thought about them, attempted to wrestle with all this, and come out with a logical, well-thought-out, comprehensible, well-writen treatise against Christianity. *smile* I do not agree with you, but am thrilled that you have taken the time to say all this. Thank you for this post."

to you your religion...and to me mine. Indication of acceptance that we all have differences of opinions and beliefs and we all share the same planet and so need to find common ground
