I really really mean it and I guess it has to do with the fact that most of the Atheist I have met are very intelligent and quite kind :)

Thanks in advance for your responses,

Has every atheist you have met treated you in the same way they have treated me?

Thank you.

That's really all we ask for. So many times religious people will treat us badly, and then if we dare to defend ourselves will come after us for being "evil."

They don't realize that maybe if they treated us with just a little bit of respect, we would be pretty easy to deal with.

So thank you, I appreciate it, and I respect you.

I really gotta know how you made your avatar that way!

I don't know many Atheists other then myself. But I understand how you feel about how religious beliefs may be connected to personality types. Some people may get mad at me when I say this but every Christian I have met in my life has done me great harm. We are talking stealing, back-stabing, and dishonesty. Most likely it is just a strange occurrence. It is also quite obviously my own experience and doesn't reflect a greater population. But I do understand how life can experiences can draw up connections between many experiences.

I am an atheist, but I would not generalize like that.

Atheists are like everyone else, and come in all shapes and sizes. Don't make such sweeping generalizations, it could be dangerous.

For eg., if some stranger came up and offered me a ride, and said it's okay, I'm an atheist. I wouldn't get in the vehicle, and neither should you. Even if he said he was a Muslim, Christian, or Jewish.

Save your assessment of a person, for later, after you get to know them, on a more personal level. Keep safe!

It is just as misguided to believe that all of any given group is good as to believe that all are bad.

I know some very nice atheists. I’m married to a very nice atheist. But I also know some that aren’t at all nice.

And I would say the exact same thing about Christians, Moslems and every other group I could name.

I agree. Most atheists I have met are also kind and very entertaining to talk with.

IMO there are 2 types of atheists.

There are "true" atheists who honestly thought about it and intelligently decided there is no god.

Then there are "angry" atheists. A relative dies, something bad happens to them or a national tragedy happens and the person becomes angry that a "god" would allow this to happen therefore there is no god. These are fake atheists..

I've only had bad experiences with the "angry atheists".

Are you serious? Have you been reading the questions and answers posted here?

Christians are called a multitude of things on a regular basis, here are a few examples: Retards, morons, idiots, etc. God also gets called names like Sky Fairy fairly regularly.

News flash...it's not the Christians using these terms. Would you call them respectful? I sure don't. Are they kind? Definitely not.

I recognize that not all atheists are like this, but I also see that other atheists don't do much to shut them up. As a whole, what sort of opinion of atheists would you suspect I have?

**Update: All I do is point out what I see here every day, and I get thumbs downs for it? Whats the matter, too much truth? Proof too readily accesible? It's not like I made anything up, atheists really are that rude on a regular basis. Are Christians not allowed to be offended by it, or what?

I understand that Atheists and Muslims are getting along very well these days. They just love Keith Ellison, even invited him to speak at an "atheists for humanity" meeting recently.
And American Muslims just love Atheists, too...
Of course, Muslims in other countries aren't so cozy...but hey, as long as no Atheists intend to travel much in Muslim lands, but stay right here, it's all good.
For now, anyhow.....

Not so much. They are some times intelligent but seem to be just as often extremely unintelligent. Sometimes they were nice but not always. It has nothing to do with religion just the character of the person which supposedly with the religion can be improved.

I'm an Atheist but I'd have to disagree. There have been a few Atheists that are severely demented (Julia we're looking at you honey!)
