If she starts try to make a "nest" or finding old piles of things and digging around in them she is preparing for labour.

Dogs are not pregnant for 28 days.. Good thing Christy H's dad decided to become an electrician instead.. Dogs are pregnant for 58-63 days.
The temperature isn't the best indicator of labour.. She might stop eating or at least cut back some.. She is very likely to start digging and nesting.. If you have put together a whelping box for her and encouraged her to spend time there, feel comfortable there, she might even go there when she is ready to whelp..
She'll want to go outside a whole lot more and will seem a little aggitated.. might shiver, pant, pace.. Don't go anywhere cause they're coming..

Sounds like she maybe getting ready to go into labor. You should have her a large pasteboard box lined with newspaper and put her in it.When she begings her labor and contractions, she will start scratching and tearing the paper around in the box. After her contractions beging she should beging delivering the pups within 45 minutes to 1 hour after the hard contractions begin. If she doesn't expell a pup within this time,I suggest you call your Vet,as she may need a C-section.Just be careful and keep an eye on her and make sure when a pup is born that she starts cleaning the head area first, because if she doesn't you must remove and tear bag of fluid off of pups head,or it will drown within seconds after being born, then let her finish cleaning the pup up.Good luck with your new babies.

Her temperature should drop about 3 degrees from normal, which seems to be about 100-101. My dog usually drops to about 98 when she's getting ready to go.
I can always tell when she's ready to go because she gets restless and won't eat treats. She may have contractions before the first puppy comes, which is an obvious indicator. If she contracts for more than about 4 hours with no puppies, take her to the vet immediately.
Good luck!

If her temp stays below 100F on several readings, then they usually give birth within 24 hours. Many will not eat before whelping, and will pant and exhibit nesting behaviors. Most dogs give birth in the middle of the night!

My daddy knows a lot about animals and wanted to be a vet, but ended up being a electrician, but when are dogs are pregnant, he tells me they'll be due in about 28 days. So it'll probably be about 28 days from when she was bred.
