You can usually safely lose 1-2 pounds weekly. So, depending on what date in Sept you are speaking of, probably. You would need 7-8 weeks of living right to do so. The good part is that if you can make healthy changes for 7-8 weeks they are most likely to stick.
By healthy lifestyle changes I mean:
Eating stir-fried or baked food. Eating more vegetables and using fruits as desert. Using no or alternate sauces. I make my own meals most of the time. Eat PLANNED meals and snacks every 4 hours. This will keep you full and decrease chances of cheating with only junk food around. Stay away from fried food, battered food, food and gravy. I make some tasty low-fat, low calorie dishes. The internet is littered with sites with great recipes.
As far as exercise, I run, bike, swim, box, lift weights,etc...These are things I like to do. Find things you like to do that involve exercise. Then it's fun and not such a chore. Include your significant other and your family, co-workers and friends. If you have none of those that are interested, think about joining a gym with exercise classes. Hanging out with rich people tends to make you rich. Hanging out with smart people tends to make you smart. Hanging out with overweight people tends to make you fat. (Seeing a pattern?). Hanging out with healthy people tends to make you healthy. Healthy people do not go to buffets and belly up to the trough. Not to say healthy people do enjoy food and doing nothing. We do. We just make sure that our lives are in balance. Hope this helps.

Good, walk briskly for an hour. You can do that for 5 days and rest the other two days.

Don't eat less. Eat Right. So that you can increase your metabolism rate.

Your daily exercise will burn your fats and calories, and make you hungry. The right food will not make you gain weight.

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

Details are in my blog

its healthy to lose 1-2lbs a week - if you are losing more its not fat you are losing but water weight and muscle which means you are slowing down metabolism and will gain it all back.
to lose weight you have to do cardio 4-6 times a week for average of 45min.
and never deprive your body.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
lean meats, healthy fats, soy and milk products, legumes, whole grains
