he became a born again Christian a year ago, his church has issues with him as he believes that life is already planned out for us.... what does this mean? any ideas, suggestions or info would be great... he is obviously serious about his beliefs as he has 'born again' tattooed on himself.

His life is not already planned out for him. That is called the teaching of predestination. It is fatalism in disguise.
God knows what will come, but he will still have to make the choices that will affect his life.
He needs to seriously study the Bible and pray God would give him understanding and help in understanding the Word or God clearly.

Well, let's see...
Believing that life is already planned out... That basically means that God knows in advance what we do with our lives...
"Born again" means basically he has a new nature. He'll still have the old habits and stuff but will probably want to start to breaking them.
I'm trying to figure out what you mean by his church has issues with him... Is he not fitting in? Different beliefs than the church?

Pre-destination is a common Christian belief I am not sure where l stand on that issue...
I believe we have a choice, and that God knows what has already and will happen because he is outside of our concept of time and space... so that because he knows how it all ends doesn't necessarily mean you don't have any choice in how to go about it and get there... It is just that God knows the decisions you will make because he is not confined by time and space....
I hope that makes sense it is a very sticky topic in any case.

If he really is a new Christian then leave him alone. I'm warning you because when I was a new Christian, and the others that I have known who were new Christians; we are a p a i n i n t h e b u t t!!!!!
You see, the tendency is to become legalistic. And if you like having everything about you scrutinized and evaluated as being sinful, including you intentions, then go for it.
But I warned you!
Oh yes,
I warned you.

Well life is already planned out for us.. God has known what our life was gonna be before we even exsisted.. God gives us free will .. you will do what you are gona do... some people have a cirtan calling devoting there life to the service to our Lord Jesus Christ.. Being Born again makes him a baby christian.. instead of being confused.. and asking all of us.. why dont you ask him.. ? as he is a christian God will give him the words to explain.. = )

This is commonly refered to as Calvinism, after the man John Calvin. This is biblical but debatable within the Christian Faith.
Mostly the part on Divine Election- that one must be chosen by God to come to faith in Christ.
You can read about this here:

I had to add this.
I remember Pastor Pancho Juarez talking about when he first became born again and how he was crazy for God. He said all christians should be locked up for 3-6 months after first converting to Christ because they are immature and out of control.
I remember how I was and I have to agree! Don't you?
God will finish what he started in this young man and we will see him in heaven one day!
I have total confidence in the Lord!

every boby needs a reationship with god, in one form or another, but to say life is planned.....no. It is true god does have plans for everyone , but it is up to you to listen. That is something a church cant help a person with. One has to communicate with him on his own. To be born again thats bull ****, its a cheap way of saying im not gonna be bad anymore. But about your friend , it may be a faze.

In a way, yes, God has our lives planned out for us, he has plans for us. BUT! We all have "free will" and our own actions can get in the way and cause us to go down a different path than what God origanilly had planned. So in a way, he's right, but he can't just sit back and let it all ride! We have things to do that God wants us to do along that path! I hope that makes sense?!

Get him to a shrink fast! Born again christians, though their intentions are good, can drag themselves and others down into a pit of hatred and prejudice. You should encourage him to go to a more moderate church, maybe the methodist church or a non-denominational church. good luck, you'll need it.

I'm a Christian.
He's been taken by every word some pastor has said.
God doesn't have your whole life set out,he just offers direction for you. He opens doors but is not like "You are destined to become a Doctor"
