I have looked everywhere for a website or ANY information other than the bare basics about this hotel. I'm interested in architecture, floorplan, clientele... ANYTHING!

I've looked for books on the subject as well, but I seem to come up empty-handed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

You have to take into consideration that Manhattan in the mid-1800s is totally different than today. What changed NYC the most was the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. Folks then started to move out of Manhattan. Also the Lower East Side was heavily populated and mid-town Manhattan was considered the country. You should try researching Boss Tweed and the Astor Hotel. Hope that helps.
