I just got my approval letter in the mail from the hearings office and it says i will be getting pay back payments from the date Nov-2002 but didn't get the AWARD letter in the mail yet. Do anyone know how much I should be getting back in my lump sum.

Your "award" should begin from the date of your original application.
Your amount per month is based on the number of "quarters" you worked prior to your dissability, and also the amount paid-in to your account.
That magic number is different for every person.
Once your "award" amount is determined - for the rate paid during your year of application, each year there should be a cost-of-living increase added to the monthly amount.
So, as you can see, no one can tell you the amount coming.

From what I've heard, SSI lump-sum-checks are being broken down into smaller check amounts and issued over time. Just an example of what it might be though: $651 per month x 5 yrs.
I've also heard that if you get turned down to keep applying and that the 3rd time is the charm. So it's either give away 1/3 to a lawyer or try doing it over and over until you get approved.

It doesnt matter, its big enough that you wont mind not knowing. Believe me, its a good sized one! Even if it was just $100 a month, it would still be $7000 and chances are its much more than that.
