How do I become a good cook that everyone likes?

Start with the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook and the Betty Crocker cookbook. Lots of recipes and lots of tips and tricks. Try different things, and then think of how you like them and how you can make them better. Make a lot of notes so you don't forget. Read a lot about food and just keep cooking. Think about presentation. (Food Network is good for that.) Read and do. Try foods and combinations you never thought you'd like. Keep up on the trends. Read more magazines and gather more cookbooks. Yard sales are good for learning older style traditional foods, and for cheap. Just absorb everything culinary. Learn from mistakes. Trust me, nobody will ever be perfect, it's always a learning process.

I've been cooking since 1992 and I'm still learning baking. Don't get down when something doesn't turn out. Just do it different next time!

You should attend a culinary school. I don't care for cook books, two many uncalled for ingredients. Most dishes start with a basic roux or sauce.
Do you own a smoker? A simple but delicious smoked brisket will make mouths water. Wrap your brisket in foil with these seasonings...Worcestershire sauce, and garlic....smoke it for at least 4 hours........Wow, the neighbors will be foaming at the mouth
I really do suggest attending a culinary school. I've been cooking for as long as I could stand on a chair and reach the stove, so it comes very natural to me.
Another thing that I like to do is boil some water, add Cajun seasoning, throw in some new potatoes(those small red potatoes), throw in some corn on the cob, throw in some shrimp. You have to remember it takes potatoes along time to cook, so boil them until they are almost done, then add your corn on the cob, that takes about ten to twenty minutes, then your shrimp only take about 8-10 minutes, until they turn red......do not over cook the shrimp.....at anytime during this process you can remove any of the items and put them in a bowl and keep them warm

First of all, not everyone will like what you cook - we're all different and have different tastes.

You can become a good cook by going to a good cooking school. Try watching the Food Channel - they have wonderful programs, recipes, etc. Good luck!

Cook EVERYTHING. Cook and cook and cook. You gotta love it. Buy stuff you've never even heard of and cook it. And then cook some more. It's about the most fun you can have. Some people say sex is, but as a guy who never gets any sex, I can tell you, cooking is where it's at!!!!

Find the things that you like to make, make them well and practice cooking for family, and friends. Kids are the best they are honest when it comes to food. Go to school and get the basics. Once you know the basics the skys the limit. If you don't like it don't cook it.

A good basic cookbook and practice. Once you learn the basics of cooking, start experimenting with changing one or two ingredients in a recipe to see how it tastes.

Go to culinary school and learn how to create your own style. A good chef is some one who can keep recreating dishes instead of serving the same thing over and over.

I am a big fan of food TV. ;) You can learn a lot. I especially recommend Alton Brown on Good Eats. He shows you the how and why of food and not just the recipe.
