I am learning about the Islamic faith and want to know how do i know what to say and do when praying?

I have been learning about the islamic faith. I am married to man from the middle east who speaks arabic and i want to know so much more but he always tells me he cannot explain it to me in english. Then he tells me he thinks everybody prayers in arabic, but how am i to pray some thing to Allah and have no idea what i am saying to him or if im saying it right. Please reply..........

If your husband cannot help you, go and speak with your Imam, he should be able to locate an instructor for you.

My cousin married a Muslim man, and they had someone come over to give her "religion" lessons, and answer her questions in english.

There should provide you with an approved english qur'an translation, as well as some prayers.

You can also look on the internet for some sites, geared towards children.

Don't really fret about it, you do not need to recite it at a mosque as someone is saying it aloud just hear it in your head. Your husband may say it aloud at home as well. Or you could turn the radio to a muslim station at the prayer times and hear it.

If you don't know Arabic right now when you pray you can just make an intention in your heart to pray to Allah and then when you pray you can just say La Ilaha Ill 'llah(No God but Allah), Alhamdulillah(Praise be Allah). Ask your husband to get you some books like:

I know they say this book is for children but I think it is really good for adults too. I gave the book to my Mum.

you must really like the guy. oh well chiritanity and islam is all about blind faith some one will take care of things you cannot attitude. and sayin thank you all around when probability hits you. so dont worry about what you say all what matters is whether you are happy sayin it or not. oh and there is an english version of the kuran you know. islam is a religion which was brough up to stop the chaos with people in the dessert who ate dead animals so the halal thing. and so on and so on. they were nasty with women so women wore robes and all.

Are you following rules or following your heart?
IF I told you you talk to me, but you must talk to me a certain way using certain words, in a certain language, wouldn't you think I was crazy?
God is awaiting to hear from you from your heart. Not a formula or rehearsed prayer.

If you want a format for prayer why not follow the format Jesus gave us? Read Matthew 6:5-15
