beach room ideas?

anybody have any ideas? im redoing my room and i want it to be beachy =]]

1] paint top half of walls sky blue.
2] paint bottom half sea blue or sea green [ don't forget gentle waves. ]
3] carpet should be sand color.
4] get a lounge chair, and cushions in the sky or sea color.
5] use empty lobster pot for bedside table
6] use clam basket for storage, and small one for trash.
7] get a palm tree lamp.
8] put up a fishing net with shells, fish, seaweed on one wall.
[ maybe a Barbie mermaid? ]
9] use large conch shell for planter, fake crab and starfish for paperweight, decor.
10] fill a clear glass squat vase with some sand, put in a votive candle, and surround rest of candle with tiny shells
11] surfboard shelves
12] use glass floats, if you can find them
13] how about life preserver pillows?

How kewl! Here are my suggestions: Purchase a roll up bamboo shade for the window. Fill some different sized baskets with shells and candles in "ocean" from Pier One and some shell potpourri.

Take a piece of sandpaper (in the paint aisle at Lowe's or Home Depot) and have them match it for wall and ceiling color. Trim the room out in white.

You could also add a white-washed bead board halfway up your walls OR make a head board out of bead board that you white wash...

BB & Beyond or Linens and things both have seashell, ocean themed sheets, bedspreads, etc... And don't forget the pillows for the bed!

Add a white faux wicker chair and a wicker trunk (painted white) for accents. Buy one of those inexpensive round tables (Walmart's) that you can use as a nightstand by draping it in a twin sheet or solid tablecloth that goes all the way to the floor and top it off with a fishnet you can get at Pier One. Glue shells onto the base of a lamp, and add starfish and sand dollars to the shade!!

Look for photos or pictures of beach scenes for your walls. A cute wall peg shelf in white would look very cute!!
