I don't understand the concept when my best friend (a baptist minister) talks about it. A voice from the clouds doesn't come booming out or anything. How is God's will determined without direct contact??

I believe in God but I dont think religion is neccessaryly the excat way of keeping in touch with God but at the moment it is the closest we can get to keep in touch with God.

Your minister might have experienced some overwhelming feeling like that or he is just trying to keep you in focus that God is true. It is upto us to believe or not. If you have questions it is good and you have to understand God lives inside everyone of us the part of us which always wants us to do good is Godly and possibly God. So the point is yes you are in touch with God but you dont realize it.

The concept of "God's will" does not ring true to you for good reason...you are wonderfully being steered to your direct-connect...to listen to your soul sounds, that inner voice, that gut feeling...this is where truth beacons from.

You see, we are each given promises when we plan a lifetime...one being free-will choice, another that we will always have an umbilical to Home like I mentioned above.

Why do you feel differently than say, your friend? Because you are being called to seek further...deeper. Does it honestly make sense to you that a being of ultimate evolution...pure energy...would ever need to express a human trait such as "will", or example that which has such control issues??? Would such a being ever need to place rules upon themselves, since, in essence we are each a part of it's Wholeness??? What purpose would this serve them??? See--think deeper, listen inner.

Just for the record, the being we call God absorbs from our human experiences, and also from every other-worldly being's experiences...did you imagine that this is the only place to have a lifetime and that Earthly human is the only vehicle to experience from??? Nay, little Angel, we can be many, and the picture is much larger than the imagination could hold.

I wish you Good Journey...keep seeking, keep thinking!!!

Well, you see God did make direct contact, in several cases throughout the Old Testament (to the prophets and patriarchs) and of course in the new testament (through Jesus and his apostles). It's through the records of their communication with God (better known as the Bible) that we can discern the will of God, at least in regard to the things he'd like for us to do in a broad sense and the things He'd prefer we not do, again in a broad sense.

There is also that nagging voice inside you that you might call your concience which often times communicates the will of God to you as it's actually, in the case of Christians the Holy spirit speaking to you. Yes, God does speak directly to us through His Holy Spirit, though it's still important to know the Bible because if what we hear in our minds doesn't add up with scripture, we can know that it's not the Holy Spirit, but some demonic force, or our own desires trying to lead us in a different direction.

Hello friend,

The Bible speaks of the will of God in that he has his will, and also you have free will, which he grants you. To know what God's will would be in a situation, you must know the Word ( Bible) Not just what the preacher says, but know it yourself. Must come to a full knowledge of God , and thus knowing what would he want.Like that saying " what would Jesus do" The Bible says that without holiness, no one will see the Lord. That makes it pretty clear that one of his wills is holiness. The Bible is like a blueprint to a life of peace and knowledge of truth. But you must first want it, and seek it, and live it. After a little time you will begin knowing what God would want. Number one thing is prayer, prayer is our communication to God. It is how we talk to each other. His voice is like the gentle wind, so be sure to at times stay silent , and let God speak in your Spirit. Or you may miss what he has for you.. I hope this helps a little.

Unfortunately your friend is a member of one of the thousands of manmade denominational churches, which cannot agree on a single point of doctrine, but all of whom would tell you you can know God's will by reading the Bible, even though each of tese groups reads the same Bible, yet comes up with conflicting versions of what constitutes "the truth".

If you really do read the Bible though, and accept what it actually says, you know where to find absolute truth. The Bible tells us that the Church founded by Jesus Christ is "the pillar and foundation of truth". No structure can stand, once removed from its pillars and foundation. the truth cannot stand once removed from the original Christian Church. The Bible also tells us that Christ Himself said that whatsoever the leaders of His Church bind upon earth is bound in heaven. Wow! And that who ever listens to the leaders of His own Church listen to Him! And that the Aholy Spirit guides His own Church to all truth".

No, there is no booming voice from heaven. There doesn't have to be. Christ founded one Church for all mankind, and absolutely guaranteed that the teaching of that one Church would constitute the fullness of Christian truth until the end of time. I believe Him! He never lied to me before! That's why I am Catholic. Contact with His Church is the closest contact any human being can have this side of heaven.

There are two keys for knowing God's will for a given situation (1) Make sure what you are asking for or considering doing is not something the Bible forbids. (2) Make sure what you are asking for or are considering doing will glorify God and help you grow spiritually. If these two things are true and God still is not giving you what you are asking – then it is likely not God’s will for you to have what you are asking for. Or, perhaps you just need to wait a while longer for it. Knowing God’s will is sometimes difficult. People want God to basically tell them what to do – where to work, where to live, who to marry, etc. Romans 12:2 tells us, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will."

God rarely gives people that direct and specific of information. God allows us to make choices regarding those things. The only decision God does not want us to make is the decision to sin or resist His will. God wants us to make choices that are in agreement with His will. So, how do you know what God’s will is for you? If you are walking closely with the Lord and truly desiring His will for your life – God will place His desires on your heart. The key is wanting God’s will, not your own. “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). If the Bible does not speak against it, and it can genuinely benefit you spiritually - then the Bible gives you the "permission" to make decisions and to follow your heart.

Buy a sheepskin rug:)

Judg 6:37 behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I will know that You will deliver Israel through me, as You have spoken." 38 And it was so. When he arose early the next morning and squeezed the fleece, he drained the dew from the fleece, a bowl full of water. 39 Then Gideon said to God, "Do not let Your anger burn against me that I may speak once more; please let me make a test once more with the fleece, let it now be dry only on the fleece, and let there be dew on all the ground." 40 God did so that night; for it was dry only on the fleece, and dew was on all the ground.

One way is to have Christian friends pray for God to reveal His will to you. His will can be determined by His Word or through someone. Romans 12:2 instructs "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

When you submit yourself to Jesus and follow His teaching your are in the will of God. In Psalms it states that He directs our path. Trust in Him and just believe that everyday He leads you in the way you should go. Sinning is rebellious and will sidetrack you, but if you repent He will lead you back. You may not understand how He does it, but He does and will lead you. You also learn by reading the Bible and it also says that "His sheep shall know His voice".

God's will is only discerned in answer to prayer.
You might be praying about some specific thing.
Or you might be asking God to show you his will for you.
When you come to a peaceful acceptance, you'll know it.
Seeking to do God's will, always leads to the loving thing.
Going against God's will, always results in the selfish choice.
