I'd go with "lab mix". I used that for my lab x chow, lab x ?, and sometimes use it for my new short haired golden retriever x ? It's just a lot easier to say lab mix than golden retriever mix! You could also go with retriever mix, since both labs and goldens are retrievers.

A golden retriever is a type of Lab. So that makes the puppy a lab or lab mix.

A Lab-reiver, I have one too except the Lab was a yellow and that made... with the Golden a striking golden shorhaired 90lb Lab-reiver. She loves thunder and lightening storms and wants to lay in them, so I call her Thunder Bear. She also smiles like she has all the secrets of the universe.

I think I would call him a Lab/Retriever cross.
